david murray was not involved when we were signing the england captain and goalkeeper.
"david murray was not involved when we were signing the england captain and goalkeeper."
Did someone say he did?
Signing a few English players, fair enough. But at one point you had half of the Dutch national team.... Tore Andre Flo ffs.
you can hardly blame murray for some teams trying to keep up with him for 20 years!
guy at the end of my street has bought a bentley , no one else in the street has bought one just to save face
ek
How else are teams meant to compete to win the league if they don't spend to keep up?
Rangers were perhaps the only club in Scotland who were thinking long term before Murray got his hands on Rangers. He inherited a great stadium before every other club in the land were obligated to provide the same.
The other Scottish clubs who were convinced they needed to spend outwith their means to compete with him were just as responsible for the decline of Scottish football, but Murray was the man who corrupted our game in the first place.
No Idea Policy
but everyone controls their own destiny
If next door buy a fancy car and I want to compete then thats my call
Its not their fault if I cant afford it.
You have responsibility for your own action
How else are teams meant to compete to win the league if they don't spend to keep up?
................................................................................
errmmmm
how about keeping going with the policy that had them getting far in europe and challenging for the title
according to the op , things were better back then , so why change it if it was so successfull?
Duke
You and your neighbour aren't competing for a title though, are you?
title of best car in street?
You guys don't even know your own game
Bosman = small clubs unable to keep their good players
OF = killed half the gate, took the lions share of the TV money
Resources gap in the 70's/ 80's was about 4 times between you and the others. Now its about 10.
OF greed killed the competition in the Scottish game
I'm glad I cleared that up for you
teams were not dragged in to the transfer market
they made the choice
though I dont remember that many doing it
OF = killed half the gate, took the lions share of the TV money
-------------------
I would be all for the pitiful TV money being distributed more evenly since it would make a greater difference to the smaller SPL clubs than it would the big two. All the same, it's the fans of the big two who are expected to adjust their lives around ungodly kick-off times every week because that is the only two clubs ESPN/Sky are interested in.
As for half the gate, then I don't imagine many OF supporters being happy spending their money to fund clubs who barely bring 100 fans to either stadium.
I thought this might happen, we actually have Rangers fans on here defending Murray....... you would let him destroy your club all over again.
gullible is not the word.
It would appear that Murray over spent. Luckily most of the other teams saw the light and started investing in youth again..... just look at Motherwell, Dundee Utd and yes Celtic.
RFC ... RIP
motherwell??
ha ha ha ha ha
im not defending murray for what he has done to rangers
but to blame him for the demise of all other teams and the national team is ludicrous
The demise is the fault of one dimensianl managers!

dont be so silly
most hate what he has done to our club
but if people make silly suggestions then ..... well it should be pointed out that they are.... well silly.
I like being silly. It gets people going and my op was about Murray being a catalyst for ill's of our game.
It is always and I mean ALWAYS my modus operandi to blame Rangers for everything that is wrong with Scottish football and I am sure I could link them to the cause for the collapse of the Greek economy. Souness did manage in Greece and Boyd played there.... makes you think eh?
if you mean the turkish part of Greece then yeah boyd did play there!
EEHHHH
Turkish part of Greece
what you on about?
Souness was in Istanbul (not constantinople)
Now where Boyd was I dont know
But it wasnt Greece or Turkish Greece whatever that is
duke
boyd played in same part of turkish greece that souness managed in
Im missing sumit I can feel it
ahh yes but it was once part of the Byzantium empire founded by Greek colonists from Megara.
so you see. It's all Murray's and Rangers Fault. Now do'n't start me on the SFA 's roll in the Afghanistan conflict
