True.
I think we might have seen his peak in MBDTF.
Think people should realize 'Facts' is very much a throwaway freestyle, very much doubt it's going on the album.
Got good hopes for Swish

For all y'all (bar DJ) who don't realise that there was hip-hop pre-2000.
Really commercial/mainstream list but it's a good read and may help you discover some good stuff.
That highlights the rise and fall of hip-hop quite graphically, tbf.
No Rugged Man on that list = Void
Recognized pretty much every name on that list. Don't really care for the early 80's rap find it a bit boring.
Think the past 5 years have been pretty amazing for rap, creatively and sonically, maybe people can finally stop moaning about it not being the 90's anymore.

J.Cole shoulda been on there ahead of Drake when he released his first album
Thats a really good article btw.
Im surprised Beans didnt even get mentioned when they praised Jay in his peak years.
DJ
Benny, you don't have to lie mate. I wasn't trying to embarrass you
There were some questionable shouts, like Redman in 1992. Especially when you consider The Chronic, Dead Serious, Deadly Operation etc where on the scene. I've never really got Redman though.
It is heavily NY biased tbh and focuses a lot on commercial success.
Also shows how terrible 2014 was for Rap when Nicki gets a best rapper alive for the year

True...i'd even give it to Lupe before giving it to Drake. You cant fault Drake's mainstream appeal though.
Its a depressing decade if its dominate by Lil Wayne, Drake & Minaj.
Honestly from 2010 onwards, the music has been good imo.
Obviously dependent on who you listen too.
A lot of the good stuff has come from 90s rappers anyway (El-P and Killer Mike, Ras Kass, Ghostface etc).
The best new artists (Kendrick, Joey B4d4$$, Big KRIT) lean heavily on 90s hip hop as well.
The idea Drake and Nikki Minaj are the best the 10s have to offer is worrying.
I couldn't believe that Rae or 3stacks never made the list. Issue with these types of articles is they glorify Biggy and 2pac too much.
I wont say Joey isnt talented but something about him doesnt seem to sit with me. I always preferred Steez to him..and then theres that song Hotbox where NYCk Caution bodied him with relative ease. I always think about that song whenever someone brings up Joey.
But I do feel there's a big difference between having been influenced by and simply replicating 90's rap music.
Can't really argue with Drake being on the list, there are better rappers than him obviously but he can do more than just hold a mic, he was clearly the biggest rapper in the years he won.
There's more trash rap but there's always been really good rap music, you just have to know where to look. Think people just get annoyed because it's always being overlooked it's pop contemporaries.
Isn't there a difference from being the biggest to the best?
Article says best but I'm sure its more subjective then that.
Anyone listened to Anderson Paak's new album 'Malibu' yet?
