AVB's become president of Porto!

I back winners people
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He was always great in job interviews
---------------------------------------------------------
You seen Terry's comments about him failing to establish authority? I stumbled onto that when I saw this news.

Very interesting. Can be seen two ways and (imo) neither of them come out of the story looking good.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Shows his utter naivity at the time tbh. Pre determined move by AVB to change the dressing room culture from day one, before actually getting to understand the existing dressing room culture.

Straight out of the Todd Boehly I know better playbook.

Don't make Terry look great though, basically gave him a blinking test in-front of the squad. Should have (imo) gone along with it & addressed his problem in with AVB in private.

He started that story off by saying player power wasn't a problem, then tells an instance of one of the most potent examples of player power in effect I've ever heard

Also reinforces the theory that Abramovich gave him a brief to ruffle some feathers in the dressing room & the senior players knew that, cos otherwise why does that happen? It's such an insignificant thing to create tension over.

Utd players I'd take are Garnacho, Mainoo and Wan-Bisakka as cover.

Rashford is too inconsistent and huge wages. Bruno has a punchable face. Hojlund has potential but still unproven in the PL.

I couldn't look at that goofy mug every week, no way. Lines have to be drawn somewhere.

A team with Grealish, Gyokeres, Palmer and a fit all season Nkunku and we win the PL 🏆.

Petrovic
Gusto Fofana Colwill Chilwell
Enzo Caicedo
Palmer Nkunku Grealish
Gyokeres
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If we get a striker like Gyokeres, I’d be happy shifting Jackson to left wing. He’s fast, can beat players, and Gyokeres can finish for him. That would save £100M on Grealish. That money is better spent on a goalkeeper and a centre back who doesn’t break all the time.

There is still no breakthrough with Gallagher. A source at a rival club interested in Conor Gallagher said “We like him, but the figures don’t add up. Chelsea overpay so they expect other clubs to overpay them” (@kierangill_DM) #CFC

I find it hard to forget how he was half the Haven's favourite player.

Pep has turned Grealish into a harmless forward. Add to that his wages, and that he has already won the lot at City and I only see another Sterling.

Grealish is a great player, but I just don’t think he’s a priority when we have many more urgent needs.

I'd be happy to give Jackson more of a run on the left or even the right and I suspect the only reason that hasn't happened more is because we literally have just one solitary striker in the entire squad. As incredible as that sounds. Jackson himself.

The probably is that we now don't know if Jackson is a viable option out wide over a season. So it's difficult to plan transfers accordingly.

Yeah Pep's City was never a good fit for him in terms of actual playing style although he's won titles and CL there so he's probably not complaining.

Watching Pep berate Grealish after a game recently you can see that he's under very limiting instructions which I don't think suits him at all. He's a free spirit player, you give him the ball and let him do his thing. You don't overload him with tactical info.

I think Grealish would be fantastic at Chelsea and would thrive in a way that Palmer has since his move. Also Grealish is still relatively young so has plenty to offer in terms of time.

Relatively young? He'll be 29 in September.

No thanks to Grealish, nothing player.

posted 2 weeks, 3 days ago

Is he ? I saw a vid that said he was 25/26. Bad info then.

I'd still take him, buying only under 25 players has got us nowhere. We need experienced players as well that aren't going to fold like this lot has done too often.

Hes never acted experienced though, and that's why like you I felt he was much younger. Do we need older players.....yes. Is Jacky boy that player? For the fee and wages that will probably be demanded highly unlikely

posted 2 weeks, 3 days ago

Though if the fee and wages arent unreasonable, I wouldn't be against it

Yep, he's not exactly a leader on or off the pitch. Would be a poor signing, similar to Sterling as G7 said.

Don't need him, there's better ways we can spend our limited funds this year. Striker, CB, LB & GK are bigger priorities

and he’s a party animal off the pitch, think there’s a chance he fades away like Hazard in a couple of years

Ok there is that. We all saw what happened to Mutu when came to the big lights of London. Ended up being a massive coke head. Shame as he could have been brilliant.

🚨 The Premier league have still not approved two hotel sales that Chelsea made. The lengthy delay leaves uncertainty hanging over whether Chelsea have complied with the Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) for the 2022-23 season. (@martynziegler)

De Bruyne
Lukaku
Modric
Morata

Few others being mentioned
