I think the form of the two teams not just at the start of this season, but during the second half of last season, shows who the better team is.

Robin M... That emirates trophy... Arsenal didn't win it this season (how about that ?!!, even when you get to choose the teams that enter!!!)
Not winning a trophy does not make us a laughing stock. Having 4 points at this stage of the season under the name of Liverpool makes you a laughing stock. The comments above just make it even worse.
Never mind Arsenal for one minute. Just look at the actual comments in the thread. The sheer delusion and arrogance of you Scousers. That you genuinely believe you have a god given right to be in the top 4. That you thin that because you spent £100M you were certain to achieve your targets. That because of your history you are still a big club that can look down on clubs like us.
The sheer arrogance and delusion is surely something you should all be embarrassed of. Never mind the garbage you actually came out with about us, anybody could have predicted we would falter after our terrible Summer but they way you just automatically assumed 4th spot was yours, just it is pathetic. And even more pathetic is that some of you thought you could get higher than 4th and even win the league. And that isn't even just Got_Better I am talking about, if you care to have a look at this link:

Do any of you Liverpool fans think the players you've signed actually improve your team?
Henderson - No better than Lucas
Adam - Only excels at set-pieces
Carroll - Not a patch on Torres at his best
Suarez - Admittedly decent signing
Downing - Can't get into an awful England side, best player in a side who have just avoided relegation
__________________________________________
Henderson - bright talent and one for the future. By the way, Lucas is a very good player.
Adam - very good range of passing and as you say, also excels at set pieces, which can never be underestimated.
Carroll - a different option, showed that we can play well with him in the team against Man City (just about the only time he was fully fit).
Downing - a natural left winger which we badly need, and can supply excellent delivery into the box, which can only help the likes of Carroll.
Batmanu, you're now my favourite non-United poster!

Ok, a revision on this:
Henderson: has shown glimpses but no real consistency thus far, but still is one for the future with time on his side.
Adam: started the season very well but then went off the boil. Has undoubted talent but is not showing it at the moment.
Carroll: admittedly struggling badly. Does well in the middle of the pitch holding the ball up and releasing others, but is not scoring enough goals.
Downing: started the season well, then went missing, and has recently been doing well again.
I think that's a fair revision Ponytail
I still really really don't rate Carroll though, at least the others have some ability.

So, 2nd to 6th in one seson was only to be expected but 6th to 1st is impossible ??
I think 1st is unlikely but 2nd or 3rd is very do-able.
After all, a poor united from last season are looking like being worse.
A poor Arsenal from last season are very unlikely to make top 4.
Chelsea will be up there cos they can afford to rebuild.
City appear to be going from strength to strength.
Other than those two, I don't see any other team who will live with us next seasom.n.

Since Liverpool's undeserved loss against Arsenal there has been an airing of despondency and negativity from some Liverpool supporters on this forum. it's completely understandable, as we now find ourselves 10 points behind fourth placed Arsenal (with a game in hand).
My feelings are that although we are now outsiders, that there is still a lot to play for in the league. Arsenal, although improving, have been inconsistent. Chelsea are having a dreadful season by their standards under the rich Russian. Newcastle have exceeded all expectations, but can they keep this form up?
A glance at Liverpool's remaining fixtures give me hope that we could put a decent run together and apply some pressure for 4th spot. I remember when the fixture list was announced the general consensus was that Liverpool should have a strong finish to the season. Winnable fixtures with a tradition for finishing seasons reasonably strongly.
With this in mind i have just had a flutter on this. Liverpool 15/2 to finish 4th.
Have I completely lost my senses? Maybe, but it's been a strange season in many ways, and hopefully if Liverpool can find some efficiency in the final third, it could get weirder still.
Being optimistic is one thing, being completely delusional at the start of every season and disrespecting other teams in the process is another.
