..and kit deals?
--------------------
all the more depressing for a club like Arsenal when a team not in the CL get better deals
trophies and money....
That's all very well and good, but I wanted a straightforward answer.
Answer this yes or no: If Liverpool finished 20th and still win the Carling Cup, would you see that as a successful campaign?
Answer this yes or no: If Liverpool finished 20th and still win the Carling Cup, would you see that as a successful campaign?
-----------------
campaign ? no
but do you consider 3rd to be a successful campaign?
Only 1st place in the league counts
other than that, everyone else fights for the cups.
We have one, you have none
Liverpool are an expensive version of Birmingham. McCleish will probably be their manager next season
but do you consider 3rd to be a successful campaign?
---
No, I wouldn't. 3rd is still a failure in my eyes because we should have more ambition than that.
But I also look at the reality of the situation and realise that we had our worst start to the season for 58 years and we were in a crisis at two stages of the season, but we picked ourselves up and took strides forward. Wenger and the team do deserve credit for that, especially after our capitulation last season.
We have the 5th highest wage bill in the league and are currently 3rd so we're not underperforming in that respect, but the lack of a cup run was infuriating.
Regardless though, I would say our season has been better than Liverpool's. I'm surprised if anyone would say otherwise.
Whatever Liverpool supporters like to say about the Carling Cup, this season we fielded a second-string side that included the likes of Squillaci, Chamakh and Park, yet still only narrowly went out to a strong Man City side.
Just shows you were the importance lays these days for the Premiership's big boys.
I highly doubt there are many supporters who would rather their club had Liverpool's season than Arsenal's...
I even found an old topic on the Liverpool JA606 board where people were offered 5th and two cups or 4th and no cups and only one person said they would take 5th and 2 cups. Another said they would as long as they were close to the CL places and not like 20+ points off. The other 5 or 6 posters said they would prefer 4th.
That is assuming you win the FA cup as well which doesn't seem likely...
well i prefer trophies
and we have one this season (potentially two)
you ended up with none... again
A Mickey Mouse Cup
I cant believe you think coming 8th or worst case 13th counts as a succesful season
How did I miss this? Batmanu you are a legend.
Was this eventually put on the Liverpool board or should I do the honors?
it was put on there lots, they loved it every time

Only a Liverpool fan will consider 8th place and the mickey mouse cup as a good season.
Even Spurs would complain about that.
You said every one of us, yet you have only included a margin of the members on the Liverpool board. If you look for something, you'll find it.
You'll find if you look for Liverpool fans who said we wouldn't finish in the top four, you'll find that also.
Also three of the people you've included aren't Liverpool fans.
It's actually scary just how much they over-rate Suarez

They or one person?
What's scary is how childish people on your board are. So much so that they generalise a whole support, to one comment.
