Sadly I think there is loads of truth in the story Gazza

Zhirkov can play in there I suppose but only as cover really. we obviously need at least 1 midfielder, as when we had a midfield of Ramires, Mikel and Zhirkov last season for a run of games we were very poor (especially away to Liverpool where we were dominated in midfield)

I'd like Parker back at the club to be honest. He dosen't demand huge wages and the transfer fee will be pretty small. Or a loan move would be decent as well for the season.

Looks like no Vidal/Sissoko in a Chelsea shirt then KDL

It may take 6 months for Essien to recover from injury, but it'll take AT LEAST until March before he is up to the level required to be able to start every game. This is all without taking into account the fact that he probably won't be the sane player, or good enough to make the first XI even if fully fit. Maybe, just maybe, the club will give Josh a fair amount of starts next season, or the season after especially (with no Parker and Essien with the end in sight).

I wouldn't mind it on loan. as long as a squad player. but we MUST sign a quality midfielder as well. If we only sign Parker then we will be in major trouble. A struggle for top 4 in my honest opinion. Our midfield at the moment (especially without Essien now) simply isn;t anywhere near good enough.

The reports of us signing Scott Parker is making me cringe,It is about as bad as us signing Tal Ben Haim actually no that is an insult to Parker but you know what I mean.

The question is, would Scott Parker be a improvement to Essien and Mikel? Judging by last season I would say a big yes. It will be good to have someone who plays the DM position, who can create and score goals.

Gazza - I really don;t think that midfield is strong. Infact it depresses me slightly when looking at it written out like that. We would definately not be challenging for the title.

Zhirkov - is lightweight as part of the midfield 3 and was founf out last year

Josh - Is still a year or 2 away at least from really being a top first chooice player

Benayoun - suited further forward and would be bullied in a midfield 3

lampard - on a downward spiral

Mikel -

Ramires -

TNS. Pastore doesn't play there. he plays basically behind the striker, he wouldn;t play in the midfield 3. His role is sort of what Rooney did for Utd last year. Also I remember Essien dominating Parker last season. He was nowhere near as good as was made out. he was the best of a truly terrible team
