Oscar, I am not commenting on whether colouring yourself black is simply an artistic choice of outfit or mocking someone else's racial identity....
What I am saying is that the consensus on blacking yourself up is that is offensive and seen as racist.
Consequently, if you are a footballer with a social media presence, endorsements, sponsors..in other words with an image or brand to protect - why on earth would you do that?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I am confused, whilst I have no idea what Griezman's intention was................are you saying that we now live in a world where it is offensive for a white person to impersonate someone of a different race and or colourr?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Have you lived under a rock for twenty years? That has offended people for decades.
Whether I agree or disagree, it's amazing that a man with a whole team of PR people and image-related sponsorships wouldn't have cleated that costume with someone first.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don’t give a feck about a minority of over the top PC turdz to be honest. If the law says its wrong then fair enough, but then no one should be allowed to impersonate anyone else in fancy dress.

I have, my comments were not directed at you. I fully understand the black and white minstrel stuff and on that I fully agree it is unacceptable. My only point is that is someone, a white person has the genuine intention to go to a fancy dress party and impersonate a celebrity then if that celebrity happens to be black I see no issue with the blacking ip
Going down under does end careers though. I think Cook's is up and Moeen might have to be cut from the side.
Does that mean Stoneman and Vince to be 1&2 going forward?

I think it depends on the context as well. The sake of the person who dressed as Diane Abbot then it is not as bad as what Griezmann did.
The assumption that all black people play basketball, and to the level in which he blacked up is offensive. On top of that it is widely known that to black up is offensive so it is beyond stupid that Greizmann did it.

I understand why people get so offended by it, even though it is hard to explain:
There is historical context behind it
There is genuinely no need to do it in the first place, why was he so desperate to do that?
The degree in how it is executed is offensive. Often the person who is being impersonated doesn't look anywhere near as black as how it is being impersonated.
In a society in which minorities are misrepresented, you have to err on the side of caution based on historical treatment.

I am just amazed that a guy who makes millions from image based endorsements doesnt have a PR team controlling his twitter output
It wasnt just offensive, although of course it is debatable how valid that offence is, it was a really bad business decision
