Stones ain't the answer, he's more of the same. At some point we'll need to buy a CB, no doubt about it, but we need an undisputed world class CB. Someone who'll come in & instantly be a top 3 player in the squad, now or potentially within 12-24 months. The VVD figure.

None of our CB's are terrible. All of them have qualities with obvious flaws & as a group actually compliment each other in different ways, but we need that one guy whose good at everything & can lead the entire backline.

Problem is those types of players are generational talents like JT. You're basically describing VVD there and we missed our chance to get him. Ditto Alison really.

I think we'll give all our CB's another chance next season, including AC. With a much better GK behind them I'm expecting to see our defence improve significantly including the performances of our CB's. And I'm very hopeful that in time Tomori can become our first choice CB.

Does anybody think we could have just kept Bertrand? Would have saved us a fortune on all the LB's we've signed since.

Yeah Tierney seems to be really good, definitely a reliable LB for relatively cheap.

It's why I think we should stay away from Chilwell and look to sign someone for a similar price.

Zouma and Rudiger/Tomori teally should not be a clown show if we have a commanding keeper and a LB who can track back.

Zouma & Rudiger will always have clown like elements to them, I dunno why but with Zouma it's endearing but with Rudiger is infuriating

Bertrand would have been a fine squad option but I don't think he would have been a long term solution at LB.

Maybe you're right, maybe you're not. Either way he's better and has performed better in the PL than just about every LB we've signed since.

I think Azpi has had some poor shows at LB and gives us nothing going forward when he plays there. I cringe when I see him there on the team sheet.
