Oh it was a filthy dog hole...I was in the RAF at the time it was just after the Falklands I was on refuelling at Dakar airport, living in a four star hotel on rates...it's probably a lot tidier now

Egypt was the same...won't be hurrying back to Africa in any hurry...maybe South Africa one day

Dakar these days looks like an underrated destination, compared to Lagos and Abidjan the city centre seems quite organised and picturesque at points. It would/could never happen but would love to travel West Africa somehow
