Just got in.

What have I missed?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
A pretty intense second half
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I have been briefly told by my Dad we were two down from predictably comical defending, came back to 2-2 and then Palmer missed a sitter. About right?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Many sitters were missed as normal. Nicky had the easiest one in the first half. And again just dumb choices by our attackers for the most part. Lacked urgency for 89 mins then we woke up. Poor in game management and lack of any sort of tactics in well as Nick put it ANYWHERE on the pitch
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you, this sounds like nearly all our games this season, only variation is the scoreline lol

Villa have rightly gained lots of plaudits this season, but I think we outplayed them tonight. Shame we can't defend, because apart from a couple of counter attacks it was all us. Shame the referee didn't have the balls to give the goal we deserved.

To be fair, I assumed this'd be like Arsenal but only Villa would score fewer times - so I am going to watch it back tomorrow morning I think. Nice to see us comeback.

Villa were bad. We had loads of possession but did very little with it until the end.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Showed far more urgency second half, it was encouraging but missed chances are proving costly

Haven't seen this other one but the 'winner' was a foul. Sorry. I don't really have any complaints.

I'm seem to be on course to get a prediction right for a change

After City I said one loss/one draw from these two before we thump Spurs on Thursday.

Iffy for me but can’t be too mad they called it. One angle looked bad the other like he just stood his ground.

To be fair I do think the disallowed goals were offside and a foul. But agree that their first goal seemed a throw in to us, but just too far back in play for VAR to get involved

VAR just needs a lot of work.

Semi against City, ref gives a goal kick, so clearly didn't see the handball. Is he sent to the monitor? No.

Whereas today the ref is looking right at Bads and doesn't blow for a foul. But this time he is sent to the monitor.

Is it the right call? Probably. But the inconsistencies need fixing.

Can also look at the Arsenal game where one of their goals came from a clear foul on Madueke, but was not looked at. And in the same game Jackson should've seen red.

With VAR they have the tools to get these call correct, but continue to make error after error.

So, does this change anyone's view on whether Poch stays or goes?

I still expect the club to keep him, sadly.

More the fact Villa were guilty of that a few times (especially their corners) and nothing was given.

The offside I still have no idea what line they were using as none seemed to line up with Jackson

Problem is consistency is nearly impossible because every circumstance is different and involves different people. You'd have to use AI to create parameters for consistency, which tbh isn't the worst idea.

Not even close, but then I never wanted him. Also Villa have played quite poorly against us this season feels like.

Gone - 100%, that was all the players and the fact that Villa were complete dog sheite. Any sort of coaching and we cruise to a 4-6 goal win. Villa were that bad, and we were that wasteful as nirmal

Thursday's still judgement day. If we lose the club won't withstand the backlash.

Briefings suggest the club want EL at a minimum, and I don't believe we will make it, so probably sack him after June 30th.

If the ball wasn't about 10-15 yards away I would agree. As for there 1st goal if we actually touched the ball before Cucurella scored I would agree but we didn't.

One thing I'll say - not so much in defence of Poch but as an observation...

When was the last time Chelsea were a clinical team?

We certainly weren't under Tuchel with a better squad than this, or under Lampard with the Cobham boys...

I mean Hazard for all his brilliance was never a 30 goals kind of player...

Conte's first season is the last time we really were killers.

Does make me pause when these very rough diamonds miss chances.

All in all a much better performance. Players looked hungry to get stuck in. Completely dominant in possession and pressure. A whisker away from further goals (Palmer and Jackson). Individual improvement from Bads who I thought was really good even despite the 2 goals conceded, and probably Caicedo's best game. Negatives were mudryk and sloppy defending to concede. In a small sample size, we do seem to be play better without enzo

Also Poch sounded quite peeved in the newspaper section of the pre-match presser. So whilst I don't think he will "walk", there could be a mutual agreement of some kind.

If it guranted he got sacked I would take the loss now (the season is done - and he probably still won't play the kids). However this will arguably be the day Angeball takes a dump and Muds and Jackson remember how to score and we walk away with a cricket score

At least Poch is calling out the VAR inconsistency post-match. A refreshing change from his insipid pressers earlier in the season.
