I watched the whole game. We were fairly terrible in the beginning part of the game when Real scored two. After that I didn't think we were quite as bad as some have made out. Maybe Real took their foot off the gas I don't know. But they're the best team in the world and they were near enough full strength with their starting 11.

As I keep saying this Maresca side in it's infancy trying to find it's feet should never have had to play all of Real Madrid, Man City and Inter Milan. We needed some easier games to help development but all preseason has felt like backs against the wall in really tough fixtures.

Problem for me is were pretty good in the middle third...which is great. But the other two thirds affect the game. With wasteful forwards and leaky defenders it doesn't matter how good our system is.

How did Jorgenson play did it seem like he will be our number 1?
---------------------------------------------------------
I imagine he will be yes. Never heard of him, but Marseca's football apparently needs a mental sweeper keeper - like a Thiago Motta sweeper keeper who lines up with the D-line if necessary.

We will concede a few really dumb goals this season because of this 100%, the PL will punish this no matter how good the keeper is at it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah I understand that. What I meant is he more comfortable on the ball than Sanchez?
-------------------------------------------------------
Yeah my bad. I just assumed this guy would be good at it (even if he's a meh or poor keeper in general) because it's by far the most important trait he needs for Marseca.

I casually assumed we were competent for a second

He looks better with his feet than Sanchez, but based on yesterday his decision making is not great. Got caught out of position a few times, couple of bad passes that put defenders under pressure and probably should have saved the second goal, just didn't commit and was in no man land

Yeah there's a huge amount of work to do for these players to fully learn this system. Defence looks so shaky.

I'm wondering if James would be best served starting the season on the bench with Gusto at RB and Cucurella at LB. I'd rather see James reintroduced more slowly and used a more of a squad player while he gets confidence back that he can play games without fear of getting injured again.

Up front we clearly need Palmer and Jackson back. I'm hoping there's a really good attack in this team when Palmer, Nkunku and Jackson all play together.

Id rather see James in DM especially now Gallagher has departed...could be transitional...need Disasi back fit too

Thats ditto for well.......the whole fricken team

Again we have had a few nice little interchanges with the ball but the likes of Sterling and Mads have no idea what to do once they beat the players. The midfield have no idea how to attack, and our strikers.........well lets say Guiu looks like he is as good as Kane...........the one we just watched for England

The defence I have no idea how to fix it

He's gunna struggle to win over Marseca I think. This football typically needs composure, guile & excellent movement in the wingers. Pedro's the archetype. Mudryk's too direct of a player (even if he's hypothetically playing well).

If Marseca decided to add more direct elements to the setup, mirroring what Spain did in the Euro's allowing 1v1 take on's out wide, then he's back in contention
