The teams in this Europa Conference group stage are horrendous, when does this competition get serious lol.

I got bored watching this game

Overall good game, but really shows us where the problems are. Like Superb said, one injury to a defender and were cooked

CBs we have are just not good enough, especially the two French ones that played today

exactly. Just long enough until we play them at least.

So how does this thing work? Couple of decent teams in there, Gent actually being pretty decent. But surely we aren't playing 20 games are we?

Top 8 qualify for the round of 16

If you finish below that between 8-24 you play a 2 legged tie with the winner progressing to the last 16.

It's nearly impossible not to make it out of the group stages.

Maybe being in this comp kind of suits our rebuild status. Obviously we'd much rather be in the CL or even the EL but that will come soon I'm sure and this at least gives the B team and reserves a nice little workout and starts that they wouldn't otherwise get.

And we need all of these B team players fully match fit and used to the system for when some of them inevitably have to start in the PL due to injuries etc.

My take on last night

Disasi and Bads are horrific, they are slow and their build up play is awful.

Veiga again was great. what a buy that is, well done scouting team

Shout out to casadei looks a real player id like to see him rotated in for enzo. He is up against lavia though

KDH, busy strong on the ball, another good showing from him.

Mudryk - i think he needs to go back to basics, their is a player there and if maresca can continue to work with him it will do us all good. decent performance.

Neto, pushing for a start imo, would like to see him in for mads on Sunday.

Nkunku, clinical dont expect anything more forma lone striker - pushing for a start

felix, quiet work to do but another fantastic player on his day.

Interim manager Lee Carsley suggests Cole Palmer could play at left-back for England:

Fairly strange thing to say but I like him. Hopefully Carsley gets the England job full-time if he does well in these upcoming games

Personally think it would be crazy to give him the job when Tuchel, probably the best cup manager in the world, is available.

Does Tuchel want the England job ? Much more likely he's eyeing up the Germany job if he goes into international football. Not sure the FA will be appointing a non English manager again anytime soon anyway tbh.

Carsley has a really good record as England U21 manager, winning the U21 Euros. So it's a better record than Southgate's as U21 manager. And Southgate didn't do too bad as England manager, so I don't think it would be too crazy to appoint Carsley at all.

Spain promoted their U21 manager not long ago and he won them the Euros this year. There's something to say for continuity with U21 managers and it looks like that's the way it's going with international football.

If not Carsley, I thought it'd be Howe or Potter.

Like you've said, don't really see them going down a non English manager for the national job.

Tuchel to United I'm guessing, reckon he's waiting for them to fire ETH

Not sure, I'm sure I heard that Tuchel rejected the Utd job last summer. If so then probably why they stuck with Hag

Tuchel has spoken before about not being appreciated in Germany, doubt he wants to manage their NT.

Previous reports have said he has an interest in the England job, if the FA overlook him because they insist on an English coach then they are stupid.

Pretty sure Tuchel already turned down the Utd job, one reason why they extended ETH's contract.
