Komakino

We really do not have a pool of players to select from, the youth players need to start playing regularly to give the national side some hope.

Why take 5 stirkes when we play 1?

Take

Rooney, Defoe, Holt, Carroll

Crouch had his chance, Carroll has earned his over the last 2 games

Dalglishs Double Fist Pump

We are moving on and trying to establish some stability

Surely we we are trying to win a one of competion not create a legacy.

If Carroll and take his from of the last game and a half into next season then I agree he will be playing for england on a regular basis, but to get through the later stages of a major competion I think Crouch is the best bet

Fair point cant really argue your point as its valid, but im afraid we will have to agree to disagree on this one

Holt, Zamora or Crouch are better options as a target man than Carroll.

Rooney, Welbeck and Defoe should be the other strikers. Maybe Sturridge as he is an option on the wing as well.

Dalglishs Double Fist Pump

Fair enough.

Who goes and plays may even depend on what formation Woy wants to play??

No one has a clue, will he go 4-4-2 or something more in line with the rest of europe like 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1.

Bent?

I'm not advocating foe Defoe to go but surely he has a stronger case than Bent. Plus, I've seen Bent play for England and I don't want to see it again

Rooney, Defoe, Welbeck, Carroll and Bent if fit

"Rooney
Welbeck
Carroll
Bent
Zamora?"

What a strikeforce. We'll swipe aside any nation that comes across us.

Welbeck will get ya! Raaawr!

Not sure really, I think he will play 4-5-1

Welbeck
Defoe
Sturridge

Tempted to put Crouch in for Defoe...

I would agree with this

It's a sad state of affairs that we seem to be choosing players because there's noone good enough...Carrol for instance.

I say forget Defoe, Crouch and Zamora etc.
We are not going to get anywhere winning the thing so go for pure youth, nothing will be expected of them so no pressure. You never know we could be surprised.
Having said that i am struggling to put forward any names.
I am hearing Crewe have once again got some superstars in the making.

Good point - I just wish Defoe was a better player so we could pick him

Stig, I'm sorry, but I don't see how you can earn your place in the national team on the basis of two games. That's ridiculous.

I'd go for a 433 formation, so 4 central strikers perhaps might be a little excessive.

I would opt for:
Rooney
Zamora
Carroll

A wing-forward like Sturridge or even Walcott could then be used as a last resort central striker, if necessary.

1 Star article ? nice

Rooney, Welbs, Bent (or Defoe) must go. I'd be tempted to take one of Crouch or Carroll but I think Sturridge is more suited to international football.

European officials appear to have something against tall strikers who can head a ball.

rules out crouchy then.

he only won about 5 headers in his tottenham career.

Whoever we take...they won't be around past the group stages...& Rooney will only play in the third game. by which time it might be a dead rubber anyway

Leon Best should be in there. He has been top quality for Newcastle.
