boxing requires judges you bonehead

------

as a man who has been boxing for most of my life, thats true but the judges are in a different capacity.. they score... it is a matter of fact whether you hit the target area or not.......

Weightlifting requires judges too

4th official and refs anyone? If you want to talk about subjective decisions based on opinion

----

a referee is not a judge...

for them to be similar the ref would have to sit in the stand... watch the whole game take place, and then decide on who he thinks the winner is at the end.

it's still trampolinging though.

the ref has to make a judgement call in realtime usually, can't get much more subjective than that.

To be fair though Chronic there are a lot of controversial decisions in boxing due to the judges.

talk about missing the point. one person can look at two people do a pike and think that in their opinion one does it better.

in boxing there is no "he hit the target area cleaner", you either hit the target area or you dont.

Who can trampolining and dancing with some bog roll be in the Olympics ahead of rugby and cricket

which imho is worse, weak punches scoring points just for making contact.

You either execute a pike perfectly or you don't.

yes but that is not the essense of the sport.... ... a diving competition cannot be decided without judges forming subjective opinions.

a boxing match can....

They're balanced against bias too, unlike boxing.

"boxing is a sport.. you either hit the guy
or you dont."

You say this, but then you say this;

"any activity which needs a set of judges to
decide the winner is not a sport"

Can you see the problem?

What happens when the bout goes the full distance? Oh, it goes to the judges.

let's face it, we're all watching it.

and the judgements are called into question too, take japan the other night, they got a silver, so it is a bit more black and white than people think, the judges can't just miss stuff out.

another man missing the point... boxing is not about how hard you hit the other person (at amatuer level), you need to just hit the target, speed, technique, not just power.

Subjective opinions? They're efforts that bade their decisions on objective criteria. Maybe you don't understand it but it's very real.

and you can appeal any decision and have it reviewed after the event in the gymnastics so you get the right decision in the end

Sadly, the Team GB girl has missed out on the trampoline final.
I'm sure she will bounce back from this setback!

the difference being that boxing is a matter of fact.

the fact that judges get different scores is purely a matter of incompetence, coincidence, and angle of view.... that is obvious... as i said.. you either hit the target area or you dont. whether the judges miss a shot is a completely different point
