Javelin doesn't need explaining, it's quite simple.
ill guarantee there isnt as much controversy in the gymnastics and diving judging as there is in the boxing put it that way
well in the 80's and you hit a brilliant shot which caught the line but the line judge calls it out then the result is changed du to a subjective call made by a judge
=======
That is just one point in a match of many.
-------
so the umpire, net judge and line judges played no part then before hawkeye
===========
All of these activities have officials. Things like Diving and Gymnastics are won and lost solely on an adjudicators opinion, tennis is based more on points won by clear actions.
Rebecca Adlington boxing.

are you insinuiating that she is ugly and so has been doing some boxing?
They should bring back the old Javelin, would be fun watching the crowd duck for cover
wish they'd explain the rules behind some of these sports - Javelin for instance.

I'll explain it for you:
Throw the big stick, really far.

I might not agree with your definition but I like it

Chronic- what a cruel asumption!
ill guarantee there isnt as much controversy in the gymnastics and diving judging as there is in the boxing put it that way

are you talking about professional boxing? thats because its a multi billion pound industry, with lots of spotlight and attention and interest, and unfortuately probably a lot of bribing going on to
at olympic level has there been any controversy?
So, does Darts classify as a 'sport' in your eyes?
--------
not sure.. i guess it does by my definition but
there is clearly a line somewhere as soon you
get onto chess, backgammon, scrabble,
boggle..... none of which are really sports...

Ok, now we're getting somewhere. Now back to my original point. Can you not see that your argument is flawed due to your definition of the word 'sport'?
Jeses lads your spending your time bollocking each other about this nonsense, yet missing the bestotball match so far at the olympics. Get your priorities straight lads!
Guess all them fat people better tell the Doctor they do a sport down the pub
this is an interesting debate.. however i have not been swayed against my argument.
i do not see how gymnastics where a group of judges deciding the winner can be seen as a pure sport.
a pure sport should not rely on judges to decide the winner.
roy jones in 1988 nearly killed the korean bloke and still lost
I think bowls was an olympic sport a few years ago.
a pure sport should not rely on judges to decide the winner.

That's your opinion, but its not how the rest of the world defines a sport.

i understand the point that you are making, but i do not see how it makes my argument flawed..
i said that there clearly has to be a line... if i play some online playstation against someone from america then it doesnt make it a sport just because i am competing against someone

So boxing isn't a sport?
I know a lot of fat people who play football on a Sunday morning.
Jan Molby and Neil Ruddock had succesful football careers, and both are fatties.
Just because some participants are fat doesn't make it less of a sport.
And nowadays most darts players spend as much time in the gym as they do throwing darts.

clearly.... this is all my opinion.. but my opinion makes sense... and i reckon if pushed most people would admit that that horsey event with its judges is not a sport in the slightest...
unless maybe you think that it is?
Its not just a case of, 'yeah, we'll give it to her.'
There is criteria judges use based on complexity of the routine and its execution.
