Trampolining requires the same technique as gymnastics in many ways.

Tight buns and a leotard?
I'm actually going to miss Thorpey. One of my highlights was him almost breaking down when he lost one of his WRs.
If I win the TDF in a leotard do you think they'd give me SPOTY?
who cares who takes offense at it ?
-------
The people you're insulting by comparing their achievements to bus drivers and kite fliers.
No-one's saying the TDF isn't a world famous event, but disparaging Hoy and others' achievements to make the point is frankly unnecessary.
====================
you think that chris hoy has taken offence at me saying that brad wiggins' achievement was better than his ?
i dont know what youre talking about in your second point. you suggested that hoy had achieved as much as wiggins. how can i inform you that you are wrong without comparing hoys' achievements to wiggins ?
No one argues Tour de France's status as a premier event.
Its your total dismissal of track cycling as a 'naff' event. They require different techniques and disciplines. One needs great endurance, the other great bursts of power and speed.
They both have merit. Like a sprinter and a long distance runner.
You're missing the point.
I agree wiggins will and should win SPOTY but to say that the others shouldn't because their achievements are less than his is off the mark.
A triathlete or marathon runner have just as tough a time as a long distance cyclist. If we have a gold medalist in those events should they also be a shoe in for it?
I can do back flips and land on my feet on a trampoline, give me a gold medal.
=======
I can kick a football, give me a world cup winners medal.
I can run 100 metres in a straight line, give me a gold medal.
I can ride a bike, give me the yellow jersey.
etc etc etc.
its not the comparing its the way you do it by saying that they are no more worthy of praise for their achievements than a bus driver or a kite flier

I was referring to you holding that opinion in general.
I never suggested Hoy had achieved more than Wiggins, you said Wiggins had achieved more in one race than Hoy had in his career. That's going too far, however famous or tough the Tour is

Yup, that's all i'm saying really
It's a shame so much takes place in the first week of the Olympics. Seems like next week is going to be an anti-climax.
It's all done with rather quickly really, seems like we've had the party and we just want everyone to go home

what on earth are you trying to say here ?
you seem to be suggesting that a triathlete gold medalist shouldnt get the sports personality award ahead of the tour de france winner.
i agree with you.
what's your point though ?
right off to bed, night all what a night for britain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How did our female triathletes get on today? I missed the event.
one last diva before bed time
I think JPB, you are stuck in a mindset that if you recognised Hoy's achievements that would somehow devalue the TDF. Which it wouldn't and no one would suggest it does.

I still dont understand your first point at all. i can almost guarantee that chris hoy feels no more offended by me thinking he hasnt achieved as much as wiggins, as he does about me saying it. he doesnt even know ive either said it or thought it. what is this point all about ? it seems like nonsense.
re your 2nd paragraph, this whole conversation has come about because you wrongly asserted that hoy is as valid a contender for the sports award as wiggins is. he isnt. it's as simple as that. in pointing this out, im bound to make a comparison, and in my opinion wiggnis has achieved more this year than hoy has in his whole career. i think most people who are in cycling would agree with this, however whether it's true or not, it was made in response to the initial incorrect implication that hoy has achieved as much this year as wiggins has. he hasnt.
Okay JPB, i'm not in the mood for this - you win
I'm back from work Some night that was. Thank god there was sod all to do at work so I could watch the medals. Fantastic night.
