Would love to chat fellas but have a nice large piece of pork, with all its trimmings, to tear into with a half liter of ice cold carlsberg

I'm sure amla and smith are eager to tear into the england bowlers tomorrow too.

lol Afridi. The Saffers certainly showed their teeth today and murdered us. We still lead by about 300 so it will be interesting to see how tomorrow goes. Can't see either side winning it from here now, but England still have the best chance?

Yeah agree. 2 early wickets tomorrow and england will fancy thier chances. Having said that, if the sun comes out and amla and Smith get into 4th gear, it might be a long weekend.

Agreed, but one thing we can agree on at this point, we are in for yet another enthralling game of test match cricket. We seem to be saying that alot these days?

Any sign of Rodolph Austin coming to Leeds yet? I live not far from Bergen ( brann) and have been following that player for a while now, and he is brilliant mate

Apparently we are after him, but Wer waiting for takeover. Taking an absolute age.

So the Saffers continue to bat superbly and take their total to 107 - 1 and the partnership moves to 106

Excellent test for our boys this. Can we start getting them out? The Saffers are batting very slowly so I feel we are safe with regards to losing this first one?

i can see what the saffers are trying to do. Try and bat till lunch tomorrow, and hopefully have a gd lead by then, and put england back in. Surely SA are on the front foot atm though a wicket here and SA could start tumbling

It's hard to call at the moment viru. England still lead by 259 and the Saffers are crawling along, although they just hammered Swann out of the attack. At least we have learned that a spinner is a waste of time right now and will have to go all out with pace.

Fascinating stage in the test match.

i think swann bowled really well. he didnt allow the batsman to score to many runs. I guess now its more like try ur luck till the new bowl is available

posted on 21/7/12

I got it wrong. Swann is still going and the Saffers are still hitting him for FOUR.

posted on 21/7/12

i guess now they shud probably bring in bresnan. hasnt bowled this morning?????

posted on 21/7/12

smith is taking on the attack. I guess he realised that they need to up the rr before a wicket falls

posted on 21/7/12

Totally agree viru. I am also waiting for that move. Broad getting hit all over the park too now, and Smith is really picking up the tempo now.

So we decide to go with ravi bopara who is rapidly becoming the worst player in international test match cricket ( if he didn't already hold that honour?) and now these saffers are slapping him to the boundary too.

England made the mistake in batting first as they have left the best batting conditions for the SA batsman.

Some Maksi quotes:

"South Africa

3:0 it's our time, and has been for 3 years.

Can't wait to unleash our bowlers on this rabble "

"England will whitewash South Africa and will then be the number one team for the next five years. This excellent run of ours started 3 years ago"

Play well Neon and let us know how you get on?

I am now off to the Irishmann in Stavanger for 3 hours of live irish music, where the regular crowd ( including yours truly) try to raise the roof off the place with our singing lol.

The pitch is dead for bowlers in the first test and neither side has a chance of winning on it.

posted on 21/7/12

kash, common the pitch was the same pitch where SA picked 7 wickets yesterday, and england picked only 1. Remember SA just bowled about 35 overs yesterday, and england bowled about the same.
Remember I mentioned this pitch is very flat and it really showed when it was doing nothing.
+ it wasnt as easy to bat anyway. they only scored like 20 runs in the first 12 overs. Its more about settling in

posted on 21/7/12

agreed maksi. this pitch will take alot of mistakes from the batsman to force a result

Viru, when a team comes to england and scores 180 - 1, then it's a batsmans paradise. Trust me

Oh well, we will have to move onto the second test at all square with batsmen dominating the first one.

with dat a wonderful 100 by smith. definately shown the dedication and will to lead his team. maybe something strauss could learn from???

agreed maksi.

I would blame the stupid groundsman. this was such a dead pitch. they basically wasted a match and now we can take it as 2 day test match.

Really wanted to see these 2 teams bowlers operate on a bowling paradise.
