Bluenose - I'd rather see a United side with XI local lads than a team full of foreigners. Even if it meant they weren't as good.

And what you're suggesting is a terrible business model too. These foreigners rarely have a good sell on value.

Guys I think some of the humility argument is against some of the idiots who post pash on here and other media, more than anything else...

Fairplay to you Ivan, but I'd rather see XI players who are good enough to play. If they are foreign so be it. The signing British hasn't really seemed to do us to well recently.

i dont think its up to the Rangers fans to apologise here bud, its the men in suits that should be sorry imo. im not a Rangers fan, but i do feel for their support,as i would for any club in their position.

Ivan

Like the Celtic European team in Lisbon,it would be great to see local players doing the business, but foreign talent has also improved standards,in the EPL for example.Just look at English players and ROI at the Euros.

In recent years we have been in Ibiza and Portugal and the kids playing football on the beach or park are miles ahead of our youth on skill and technique.
I watched young guys playing in sandals and flip flops this May in Spain, and they were magic with the ball.
Local kids tend to be heavy and awkward nowadays,if they play at all.We seem to go for speed and power over football skill among the young too,so this needs to alter for any future success.

Barry! You're smileys are working!

Also here, we cannae play fitba in the streets nowadays. Which is detrimental to the game. Weans cannae actually get to play as much, so will just play as Barcalona, or Real Madrid on their xbox/ps

Mccoist should say sorry to the Raith Rovers bloke, he knew who was on that panel, and Sandy Jardine what a phuud.

Tbbab, they should only allow 7 a sides up til u14. Far too much emphasis on height/strength.

Grand Barry

Down in Ennis for a wedding last weekend, then we stayed in Clifden and Sligo, unable to face the reality of work and home this week.
Love it down the west coast mate,so beautiful and chilled there.

True Barry, with the smaller numbers and pitch size too.

My daughter is starting primary and the football pitch is huge...........for 4-11 yr olds???

Bluenose.

I used to live out on the street, but that is another story. We played for ages kicking a ball into neighbours gardens and windows, but now you would be run over.

Thats another argument against child obesity...kids dont play outside no more Eamonn Dunphy says Ireland dont produce decent players nowadays cos of the celtic tiger, too many playstations etc. etc. and not enough young boys playing ball all summer cos theyve nowt else to do... I tend to agree although it didn't make me a player
