Same over here, Barry. Don't see kids playing in the street these days at all.
Weather was ok in Ennis for wedding weekend and the Cathedral and Old Ground hotel was lovely too.
If you are ever in Clifden,go to the Abbeyglen Hotel Barry,as it is superb.Treat yourselves.
Drive through Connemara is hard to beat and Westport is a good wee town to visit.
We were down that way in May 2010 and it was warm and sunny,on the beaches daily.
Last year we had a cold wet week in a Galway thatched cottage, but it was still a great break.
someone called the cops on us when we were kicking the ball in the street one night. they actually came and told us not to be a nuisance to the neighbors anymore
If you ever come here for a holday, then Saltcoats is a must, the west coasts alternative to Monte Carlo.
Loads of the kids will opt for gaelic too Barry,as seen this week in the Connemara area especially, and they tend to be the fittest kids too,so football,or soccer, loses out.
Some boys these days need sport bra's,so forget about football boots.
Night folks as work beckons in the morning.

Ath, its really sad when you think about it.. Im sure you had similar games to us..hopscotch etc.. Brilliant fun. We'd be gone after breakfast..have to be dragged in for dinner, wanted to stay out half the night if we could! Remember football under street lights?? cryingsmiley

They start at 4v4 up to 9v9 up to U 11's. Progress is being made. It will take time but it is going in the right direction.
I played football at primary school and was lost on the huge pitch......not as big as Croker though.
Demon on the wee playground however............lessons to be leaned by teachers and coaching staff.

Good to hear, Murney. They're our future and need well taken care of with the right coaching to ensure our progress.
Bluenose
The madness of using garden or driveway gates for goals too.
I can still see my mate's perfect volley sailing through another mate's window,as his sister sat playing piano.
Lovely goal, but one hell of a mess.
Ten half time twenty one the winner, and wee poachers in every team.
Dear me, Camus, that's awful news.
Put's our pash into perspecrive.
Fitbaw ffs.
We had a carpark in the flats across from where we stayed, that we played in.

Picking teams was always a good laugh, especially at the end..
Jumpers for goalposts!
In pitch and putt I was Seve, in Gaelic I was Brian Mullins and in soccer I was Ray Houghton
