Just watched the strauss annoncement.

First time ive ever thought he sounded south african.

Is that because he's been with the tourists who have brought it out, or has he always hidden it before ?

having now watched the whole interview, i would suggest that it was just a bit of the former. just a few words with a bit of a twang in there, which i'd never heard before with him.

anyway, good interview. unlike various preceedng departing captains, he looks like he'd shed his tears before the press conference.

I'm taking the "discussion" off the Good News thread and posting my final comment on here.

You are, of course, entitled to your views; no one is going to make you sit down and watch the paralympics. I hear your argument and respect your right to voice them.

BUT surely you can see you're upsetting a lot of people on there? There really is no need to carry on with comments/observations which are perceived by most as inflammatory and disrespectful to less fortunate athletes who cannot compete in the able-bodied games.

i was aware when making the point that it might provoke a response, but i didnt make the comment in order to provoke a response, i just made it because i believe it to be a valid point.

nevertheless i take your point on board.

before reading your comment on here, i summarised my point in a fairly brief final post on the other thread, which i hope was not as inflammatory as some of the other comments proved to be.

i apologise to anyone who deemed that i had been rude or dusrespectful to them or to others, which was not my intention in expressing my views.
