Rival fans just can't seem to deal with the fact that the new owners are investing and that as a whole the club is now on a far more stable footing. It's just so obvious that it upsets them

-----------------------

Paranoid. While it was amusing we couldnt care less about your financial situation, it is just ridiculous that a team full of rubbish is getting talked up as title contenders

"We're not going to come to Stamford Bridge and go all-out attack are we?"

Funny how Liverpool fans are the biggest serial moaners when teams go to Anfield and do the same "small club mentality" some have called it

"The best thing was we didn't even need Suarez to come on "

Chances are he would have came on roughly the same time as Luiz so he would have been ineffective

Sounds like the Arsenal fans are the most worried!

Now Henderson, Adam and Downing will be around much better players than they were before and will improve from learning from them

----

Let's see

At Vill,a Downing was surrounded by the likes of Dunne, Bent and Ashley Young

At Pool he'll be surrounded by Krygiakos, Carroll and Joe Cole

Yes, massive gulf in class

You're adding mid table players to yuor team and then saying we're wrong for not thinking they're good enough to turn you into title challengers

Suarez world class? Based on what?!?!?!?!?!

--------------

His excellent world cup. His excellent form in the premiership - boy did he hist the ground running - and his superb performances in the Dutch League.

I suppose it really depends on your definition of world class, but semantic arguments don't interest me.

Suarez is class and only an idiot would say otherwise. Your Batmanu utility belt would have snapped if an arsenal player had jinked past the Utd defence like Suarez did. His skill level, intelligence, movement, work ethic helped light up the premiersip last year.

How long before it takes Suarez to realise that his ambitions will never be matched at Anfield.?

How many England B's will it take for him to smell the coffee?

Very handy of you to pick two players who won't even get on our bench this year. Carroll will benefit from him, any fool can see that. Downing will benefit from being around players like Gerrard, Meireles, Aquilani, Suarez,Kuyt etc, yet you choose Krygiakos lol. Says it all really, you don't really have an agruement.

"Our defence, while admittedly not the best, is more than capable. There's no wonder that we conceded so many goals last season when over half of it was spent under Roy Hodgson."

Capable? You conceded more goals than Fulham last season for god's sake.

"Our captain is past it? He hasn't been great over the last couple of seasons but he is still class and now says he feels better than ever, so we will see how he fares this season."

He feels better than ever? He must have been living a lot of his life in excrutiating pain then because there are currently doubts over his fitness for the start of this season. Face it, he has been on a downward slope for 2 years now and considering his age and injury problems it is very unlikely he will reach the earlier heights of his career.

"Hardly any signings are proven at the highest level. Just because we're not signing players from the likes of Barcelona, Chelsea and Man Utd, that doesn't mean they are not good players. The players we have signed this summer are players who all have Premier League experience and all played well last season."

That is true but the difference between your signings and signings that the other top clubs make is that the young signings look like they have potential to be top players (ie De Gea, David Luiz, Ramsey) whereas the prices you have paid for your signings do not reflect the potential that everybody outside Liverpool feels they have.

"To say Reina is our only world class player is ridiculous. Gerrard is still class, and Suarez is most definitely world class. Plus, it's more about how we develop as a TEAM. Individual talent only makes up a part of it, but creating a team that works well as a unit is much more important."

Suarez world class? Based on what?!?!?!?!?! And actually Gerrard still class? What is that based on too, he's showed glimpses of his old form maybe 2 or 3 times in the last 2 years yet that means he is world class. Seriously

"And also, I'm not saying we're going to win the league! I specifically pointed that out I'm just saying that we can put in a challenge, although I do expect us to fall short."

And I am saying that you will NOT even challenge. 4th place at best and that will only happen if Cesc and Nasri pull a runner.

Like I said, it's no wonder that we conceded so many goals when Hodgson was manager for over half the season (interesting you mention Fulham, considering that is more Hodgson's level).

Gerrard has been on a rehabilitation program to get fit from his groin problem, hence the reason he missed the Asian tour. Once he has completed this program, then I am sure we will see the best of him again.

The signings that we have made are to improve our team instantly. We have signed players who have experience and have done very well in the Premier League. Henderson is one of the brightest talents in the country, while Adam and Downing can provide a very good range of passes and crosses respectively, which can only help. We now have a lot of options in our squad for most positions, and I feel we are almost ready for the season ahead.

Suarez played about three and a half months of last season and put in dazzling performances. He scored on his debut having not even trained with us. His footwork is sublime and he has shown that he can beat many players on his runs and is one of the most creative players we've had for a long time.

So I maintain that we can challenge. Even my ardent Man Utd supporting friend thinks we can, it's not only us Liverpool fans. As I have said, if Dalglish can get the players working as a proper team, then there is no reason why next season can't be a good one. United are hardly brimming with world class players either but they still deliver the results.

Ah ok, so because of Arshavin's excellent form when he joined us in January, his superb EURO 2008 and his superb performances in the Russian and Europa League, he can also be defined as a world class player. Ok, thanks for clearing that up for me.

"Suarez is class and only an idiot would say otherwise. Your Batmanu utility belt would have snapped if an arsenal player had jinked past the Utd defence like Suarez did. His skill level, intelligence, movement, work ethic helped light up the premiersip last year"

Oh but Arshavin jinked past the very capable defense containing the world class when fit Daniel Agger 4 times so my utility belt snapped a long time ago

Gerrard - Past it
Meireles - Just qualifies as a good player
Aquilani -
Suarez - Very good
Kuyt - Boring, no skill, just hard work

Its pretty sad to hype these players up

That's the way to do it free beer pick 2 players who will barley play, one of whom might leave and a striker who has barley kicked a ball in anger for us, who incidentally scored 13 goals in his debut season in the PL (that's 1 more then Drogba and 2 more then Rooney 2 of the leagues best strikers) despite being injured for a good chunk of it. Sound reasoning at it's best.

"Henderson is one of the brightest talents in the country"

Last time i saw him he made Micheal Mancienne look like Xavi Hernandez

posted on 18/7/11

Wellington,

Just because Kuyt doesn't pull off exquisite flicks, rabonas and scissor kicks, this does not make him "boring". He has been one of our most important players and is still very underrated by some.

"who incidentally scored 13 goals in his debut season in the PL"

Micheal Ricketts scored the same amount of goals in his first season in the prem including....

A goal against the Champions (like Carroll)

A goal at home to Liverpool (like Carroll)

The opening goal away to Arsenal (like Carroll)

Why didn't you spend £35m on him?

posted on 18/7/11

Because he's 32

posted on 18/7/11

I did mention work ethic.

Work ethic and Arshavins don't really go together. It's a shame, because he's waisting his talent under Wenger.

posted on 18/7/11

At the time he was 22, suprise suprise just like Carroll is now

posted on 18/7/11

Oh well, he's obviously destined to be exactly the same then isn't he

posted on 18/7/11

Having worked alongside both now maybe Downing'scan teach the white Heskey how to be more like the original

As for the others

Aquilani-serial crock

Gerrard-over-rated, injury prone, past it

Kuyt-work horse and...well that's it really

Suarez-excellent player

So what we've ascertained is that despite an £80 million outlay the only quality player surrounding Downing is Suarez

posted on 18/7/11

Well Tommy I cannot answer why we didn't spend 35 on Ricketts but I'm just glad we have signed Carroll, don't care how much he cost on his day he is unplayable, and I really believe Carroll will just get better at LFC.

posted on 18/7/11

Paisley, it appears that a few players are wasting their tallents under Wenger, but not for much longer. They all want out.

No free beer you have ascertained this, are you more than one person, a collective if you will? Gerrard is not past it, far from it he's still one of the best players in the league and nothing you can say will change that for me.

posted on 18/7/11

Assuming that is the case that makes it 2 world class players surrounding Carroll and Henderson, one of them with a recent injury record comparable to Michael owen

I'm sure studying under the tutelage of kuyt and Carroll will turn Henderson and Downing into world beaters

It's never fails to amaze me the effort click free goes to to make himself feel better about being a Chelsea fan. He goes through all the failings of the Liverpool team while overlooking the inherant failings of his own club.

In terms of world football it matters little about recent success. As our tour of Malasia showed Liverpool are a much loved team around the world.

No matter what they win or how much money they spend Chelsea will never be held in the same regard as teams like Liverpool Man U and Arsenal.

They are what they are, an artificial built up possession of a Russian oligarch.
