Can Bothroyd continue as he left off from his performance against L***s? I'm not convinced by him still. However, he played well on Friday so there's some hope for him yet <harumph>.
I'm not entirely convinced by either Corry or Mayor. Will JJ get a start?
Like to see us stick with the same back four as started against L***s as they played well and although had a fair slice of luck coped well - should all start IMO.
COG over Madine to start? Not sure both work well if given the service - Bothroyd should be given the start but if he lapses or reverts back to the type I think he is then pull him off at half time and handover to Rodri perhaps?

Pull him off at half time? Bah! I remember when they just got oranges.

Hmmm....disagree reg. Corry I thought he played very well considering it was his first start at this level, plus JJ dosnt play CM unless you are reverting to 4,4,2?
I think DJ will stick to the current formation, it seems to be working, just need better service for Coggy or Madine
Corry looked promising and should start. Still can't believe JJ got another contract. I have ever-increasing doubts about Madine.
Same here to be fair, I know COG's form has kept him out but when he has played he hasnt done much really, I get the feeling DJ will send him out on loan or sumat and maybe games is what he'll need as COG's place seems cemented at the moment
Who are you calling 'reg'?
I'm not saying Corry is a bad player, far from it, I'm yet to see him convince though!! As for JJ he could do some damage to Blackburns defence; and yes I was thinking of a 4-4-2 with Barkley and Semedo in the middle of the park and then JJ/Corry and Antonio on either side. Bothroyd in the hole behind COG/Goal Machine - they both need service so a little unfair to say COG has been out of form (if anything he's guilty of not being one of DJ's pets).
Can't he be pulled off and given an orange?
or is that a bit dangerous a la Michael Hutchence?
Maybe....perhaps 'Reg' can tell us....
they both need service so a little unfair to say COG has been out of form
----------------------------------------------
I never said he was, quite the opposite, unless you meant the machine?
Thing with Madine is, Im yet to be convinced that he can cut it at this level, no league goals yet and the only competative goal he has scored wasa penalty in the tin pot cup v Fulham
Chances: 50/50
How we'll play: Probably poorly
Black is even worse than Kean. Almost forgotten what it feels like to have a competent manager. We've got the players, if we appointed anyone decent we'd likely fly up the league. But instead Venkys are making approaches for the likes of Tim Sherwood and Billy McKinlay, it makes you want to put your head through a window.
Heard you're bringing a very big following. Probably seem like a home game such is the despondency and frustration about the place at the moment.
Cheer up Blueandwhitehalves! Should be a good game. We've certainly got the team to gwet at least a point. How will Black set you up?
I'm not sure how many we're bringing but it'll be less than usual I imagine given the fallout from our match on Friday - people will and have been put off from attending.
Does anyone know how many tickets we've sold from our allocation?
Balck worse than Kean...didnt think that was possible given the ineptitude of his tactical nouse and ways of going about things, I think giving contracts to those two or was it three players that Shebby "recomended" in order to see what they are like, despite not ever seeing them play is a classic...what a tool, obviously he's never heard of giving them a trial first , i bet they havent even sniffed the first team yet. its a shame that a club like B'burn is being run the way it is.
I don't think reg knows much about auto-erotic practise to be fair Izzy. He probably dabbled in Jilly Cooper books back in the 80's.
In future i'll just simply write Regarding I think
Corry played well the other night and looks a good player for the future - With Barkley the midfield started to look like a unit..they didn't sit too deep, were able to protect the defense and provide some creativity for the front guys. Once MCCabe returns, we should start to get even better.
Its up front we need some help and sadly I agree re Madine - don't think he is Championship class I'm afraid. Is Maguire really that bad? We need someone who can be relied on to bang them in.
I would have no problem if JJ doesn't feature again - flatters too much and isn't consistent enough at this level. Enough chances.
The future lies with McCabe, Corry and at least for this term, Barkley. Antonio can provide the pace but we can't play with 2 out and out wingers. We just aint strong enough at the back and Jones has finally got the message.
Same lineup as Friday, possibly Reda for Dan Jones at LB
To be fair Earlsfield I think Semedo and Barkley can hack it as a central unit - given time this season they could develop well as a pair, I completely agree with what your saying about two wingers though in Antonio and JJ but somehow think it might be worth a pop at Blackburn tomorrow night, as we could get Bothroyd to drop back into the hole and make a three man core in midfield allowing COG to get service from midfield and both Antonio and JJ (if he puts his football hat on). JJ can, as we've seen drop deep and put in a shift (maybe I'm on LSD here though???).
Either way I get what you're saying Earlsfield.
How will Black set us up...you make him sound like a real manager. What he'll likely do is pick 4-4-2 and then just hope the players themselves can figure something out.
Surely the behaviour of the Leeds fans on Friday won't put you off? You couldn't get a softer bunch than our lot and from our last game at Ewood (League cup semi in 2002) your fans are hardly shrinking violets, its not often you see riot police lining the away sponsor boards these days.
Thats great to here Milan! After a while you start to think that the entire football world has lost the plot sticking up for that bald numpty. You've got a good 'un in Jones eh, think he's one of those that you'll keep hold of as well with him getting on a bit and having a pretty low profile.
Spot on Earls
Cannot understand why DJ signed Maguire of he has no intention of playing him, the guy must be so fed up, dont know if its a question of his atttitude or not doing enough in training? I dont know.
I think DJ has to look into getting an out and out goalscorer to compete with COG or give Rodri another shot as like I stated already I think Madine is better off going out on loan till either Jan or for the season, he dosnt look the business so far at this level and we need players who CAN cut it at this level in order to cement our place in this League!!
You're a bit harsh on Black no? I don't think he expected to be in the position he's in to be fair. I have to stick up for Kean, in a few years you'll look back and think he wasn't so bad as I suspect that much of what was hobbling him managerialy was the stupidity of how the Venky's ran the club (hopefully they'll be gone too) Completey agree with Mega; shame how the Venky's are 'running' you now. It will change for you I'm sure. Hiope you get the right manager - doubt the Venky's will deliver them this time round though.
No, we're not shrinking violets, but we're not of the same ilk as those minority of L***s fans who behaved appallingly on Friday. We like a good sing song and a pint and a good game of football.
To be fair Shibbs, Kean made a complete mockery of BRFC as much as Venkys did, in fact Keans agent apparently, if im telling the facts rightly, was part of the takeover process when Venkys were looking to buy BRFC, so thats a tad suspect to me, as a result its strange that an unheard of Kean took over from an unpopular but far more capable manager in SA. Kean I think played a big part in getting them in so he could take the reigns and carry out his more than deluded dream of being a top manager. Kean openily belittled his sucessor Big Sam via hidden mobile camera and also promised they wouldnt get relegated, quite a few times if I remember, also, as I said he signed players he never seen play, purely going on the recomendations of Shebby Singh, who Im lead to believe is just as inept as Kean and Venkys, instead of offering them trials first, there was definately more to Kean than a lot of non-blackburn followers think there was.
Well no I'm sure he didn't but that doesn't alter the fact that he clearly can't do the job. You can't afford to be sympathetic when it comes to your own club, and every game he's in charge, promotion slips further out of our reach.
I agree Kean was probably working in difficult circumstances, but I'm not sure how he could have done a much worse job even so. 31 points was a very poor total last season, in the end we were relegated by a considerable margin. And if you ask the fans of any club thats played us this season, we didn't deserve to be anywhere near 2nd when he was fired.
To be honest I just figured there was no way Venkys couldn't deliver. All we need is someone with experience and the players will probably take care of the rest. McCarthy, Davies, throw some money at it and try for Curbishley. Even Megson would probably get this squad promoted. But the candidates they've gone for so far, as I said, make you feel slightly suicidle.
Hmm there seems to be zero ambition and purely going for the cheapest option, a la Sherwood, McKinlay who hav NO amnagerial experience when as you said McCarthy, Davies would be better options as they know what it takes to get out of this division but seemingly dont want to pay their wage demands.
bawh, I think Megson would stabilise you. Anyone of McCarthy, Curbs or Davies would do similar. Hope you get a decent manager who knows what they're doing.
As for our very own Dave Jones, he's not done himself any favours of late with indecison re; inconsistent starting line up and a lot of fans have become restless. The results we've had have compounded the issues for him and he's on the back foot especially given our chairman's formbook when it comes to hiring and firing. I've no doubt Jones will get another match or two but Mandaric will act ruthlessly should points not be accumulated and sharpish. The trouble is with other clubs now starting to get tetchy with underperforming squads and in turn managers we might miss the boat to appoint a better replacement should mandy pull the trigger on Jones.
I'd say that its vital for us and Dave Jones to get maximum poitns from our visit to Ewood. Hoping that it doesn't rain.
Got to agree with B&WH (as usual) we were awful under Kean and should definetly not have been in 2nd with how we were playing at the start of this season. Amazingly Black is just as bad, so I think you have a brilliant chance of getting something from this game to be honest Owls fans.
We let in so many goals after we take the lead it is untrue, Derby yet another prime example. I think at times we sit back way to much after we take the lead, and a few of the players seem a bit disinterested, although the shambles that has been Rovers over the last couple of seasons I find it hard to blame them. Even if we take the lead, I will be worried unless we go 3+ goals ahead, which in truth is not going to happen.
Saw the Leeds game and thought the Owls played really well, so I am expecting a hard game against Wednesday. Also, as Hillsborough was one of the first away games I went to, (when we were both up in the Premiership) I have always had a soft spot for you guys.
Hoping for a good game, obviously no trouble (which I think is a given) and a good result for Rovers.
Good luck for the season guys, not against us though, sorry! Think you will do ok this season if the performances I have seen you put in (in the few games I have seen), are anything to go by.
Heart says: 2-1
Head says: 2-2
Should be a good one regardless. Come on the Rovers!
