V Blackburn Rovers

I reckon it'll be a close one, Blackburn, despite their poor performances they do have goals in them, Gomes can still knock em in and we all know about Rhodes's capabilities, however we did keep out Beccio the other night and he is more than capable of scoring at this level so if we keep up the level of performance defensively that we showed the other night we'll have a chance but our stikers are all goal shy at the moment so we could see a 0-0 draw, and thats the feeling that I get about tonight, a first clean sheet...but I can see us failing to score too sadly.

Heart says 0-2 Owls (Bothroyd, Llera-just a feeling)

Mind says 0-0 draw

Methinks you need a win tonight...else your match on Saturday is rapidly becoming a "six pointer"

Begrudgingly, sort of agree with you Sparty but 'tis only early doors for the season and I can't entirely agree that our match at Ipswich is really a 6 pointer for us - it will be for them though.

mmmm. I can think of sooo many clubs and fans over the past few seasons who thought they were too good/big to go down...

Oh dear, yet again Squib's IQ of 30 appears...So sad...

I'll pop in every so often...see how you're getting on...

I'll have you know that my IQ of 30 ranks as genius in Barnsley Sparty!

I can't see that our current doldrums are in anyway similar to the fateful relegation we suffered when were actually 'too good to go down'. The draw against L***s was the filip we needed and we actually played like a team that looked both interested and cohesive, well in patches at least. Just hope the lads continue tonight.

I think that the Rovers have been out of sorts lately, however they have still only lost two games,i fancy us to win 3-1 tonight, however if you come to kill the game and simply defend, aka Boro and Wolves there is a chance you may nick the game, but you arnt on the level of Boro or Wolves as yet so i will go for a Rovers win.

See your point as we have only just come up and given that we are 3rd bottom, but our performances this season, not every game, but the performances havent matched the result, its about getting things right and getting new players to gell, the defence after Friday seems to be fixed and there wasnt one silly mistake made, the Midfeild looks great too, all we need to do is sort out our attack, once the goals start flowing we'll be just fine. Personally, as much as I love Cogba and The Machine, we need someone of Championship experieince who can score goals and is proven, Cogba has done great and has done everything right but hasnt scored as of late, he just needs that one goal then he'll be back to where he started off at the beginning of this season.

Also to the few who think 4,4,2 should still be in use, I cannot disagree more, 4,3,3 seems to suit us better, Bothroyd on the right seems to work despite being more of a target man given his presence and hight, he has good feet, a good pass and can still get on the end of crosses, as he proved on friday night, I like the idea of him being out wide and hope he continues to do well there. Also it allows both Corry/McCabe and Barkley more freedom to get forward and support Cogba and for Semedo to do what he does best and protect the back four. Hope we continue to employ this formation as we seem to play better when we use it!

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Might have been the case with Wolves (although nicked it is probably harsh), but Boro outplayed us. We need to play a lot better than we did against those 2 if we wanna get 3 points. Can't see any change from Black, so we're relying on some big individual performances from the players. Didn't see how he did against Derby but I'd imagine Dunn is key now that freeloader Murphy has been relegated to the bench.

Have you watched any of our last 7 matches River Blue? I think there's a strong chance that we won't be doing any of that tonight!!!!

I think we'll beat you, but only just 1-0 or 2-1 perhaps.

Friday's display proved to me that we are in a false position. However, it was just enough to get everybody's hopes up for a match away to a newly relegated Premier League team.

2-0 Rovers

Really Izzy? How come such a gloomy outlook?

posted on 24/10/12

(relegated + promoted) / natural pessimism X deceptive flattery = 2-0 Rovers.

One good point is that it's midweek, so I don't have to go and watch it with my boring Blackburn father-in-law, whose mere presence is enough to curdle milk.

I wonder if we will smash 7 past you again...

posted on 24/10/12

Well Rhodes smashed 4 past us last season so anythings possible

I forgot about the 'sports science' aspect again.
Lies, damn lies and statistical analysis.

I'd accept the null hypothesis Izzy and go for a Wednesday victory.

Up The MASSIVE Owls.

Sorry BRFC fans, I've momentarily taken leave of my sense.

You are Lancastrians are you not?

Then prepare for battle and we'll put you dogs to the sword. I imagine your players will all be in thermal long sleeves and lycra cycling shorts the big lancastrian jessies.

posted on 24/10/12

Indeed, we have unfortunately descended to the level Yorkshire teams play at. Our players have been instructed that anything thermal must under no circumstances be white or fluffy looking, to avoid being humped on field.

I do believe the Venky's will sink to depths that even our past boards never reached.

In other news Cameron Jerome is apparently availbe for loan, does anyone think he would suit us? I think he'd do ok here and he played here as a youth player too apparently. Also DJ Knows him when he was a kid at Cardiff i think so does anyone think he's worth a punt?

Thoughts
