Jimmy Thelin's unbeaten Aberdeen made their biggest statement yet by intensifying the pressure on Rangers manager Philippe Clement with an enthralling Scottish Premiership victory at Pittodrie.

The pre-match show set the tone for a raucous occasion, which the away side were overwhelmed by in a sobering opening period as Nicky Devlin continued his dream season by lashing the intense hosts into the lead.

A three-goal half-time advantage would not have flattered the Dons, who struck the woodwork through Graeme Shinnie and Jamie McGrath had his weak spot kick saved by goalkeeper Jack Butland.

It seemed Aberdeen would pay the price for that wastefulness as Rangers had a Ross McCausland goal disallowed for a narrow offside call before they roared back after the break and deservedly levelled through Nedim Bajrami's fine solo effort.

But the hosts, with a sell-out home crowd backing them, regained the lead as substitute Shayden Morris smashed in on the rebound to move Thelin's men nine points clear of Clement's side after just 10 games.

The Ibrox side are now also clawing back the same deficit on city rivals Celtic, who remain level on points with the Dons at the summit.

Manchester United will visit Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.

Holders Liverpool will visit Premier League strugglers Southampton.

Arsenal host Crystal Palace in a London derby, while Newcastle United are at home to Brentford.

The quarter-final ties will take place in the week of 16 December.

It is the first time in 14 years there have been no EFL clubs in the League Cup quarter-finals.

Spurs beat Manchester City in the fourth round, while United - who beat Leicester 5-2 under interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy - will hope to have Ruben Amorim in charge by then.

The Los Angeles Dodgers clinched the 2024 World Series after recovering from 5-0 down to beat the New York Yankees 7-6 at Yankee Stadium and seal a 4-1 series victory.

A topsy-turvy game was turned upside down at its halfway point as the Dodgers exploited Yankees fielding errors in the top of the fifth inning to level the scores.

"We just took advantage of every mistake they made in that inning and scored five runs," left fielder Teoscar Hernandez said.

"The bullpen and the pitching staff gave us the chance to stay in the game. It's a dream come true."

It is a second title in five years for the National League champions, who had previously won in the Covid-shortened 2020 season.

The Fylde Coast derby is the name given to the regional football rivalry between the two Football League clubs situated in the Fylde Coast area of Lancashire – Blackpool and Fleetwood Town, first contested in 1980. Blackpool play at Bloomfield Road while Fleetwood play at Highbury Stadium, the two grounds separated by 8.5 miles (13.7 km).

The rivalry between Blackpool and Fleetwood Town started very recently, dating back to 2015–16 Football League One, after Blackpool were relegated from 2014–15 Football League Championship. As of the end of the 2023-2024 season, the two clubs have met a total of 15 times in all competitions, with Blackpool winning eight games compared to Fleetwood's solitary victory.

A Russian court has fined Google two undecillion roubles - a two followed by 36 zeroes - for restricting Russian state media channels on YouTube.

In dollar terms that means the tech giant has been told to pay $20,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000.

Despite being one of the world's wealthiest companies, that is considerably more than the $2 trillion Google is worth.

In fact, it is far greater than the world’s total GDP, which is estimated by the International Monetary Fund to be $110 trillion.

The fine has reached such a gargantuan level because - state news agency Tass says, external - it doubles every day it is not paid.

According to Tass, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov admitted he "cannot even pronounce this number" but urged "Google management to pay attention."

The company has not commented publicly or responded to a BBC request for a statement.

The Innocent

The cat has his sport
And the mouse suffers
But the cat
Is innocent
Having no image of pain in him

An angel
Dancing with his prey

Carries it, frees it, leaps again
With joy upon his darling plaything

A dance, a prayer!
How cruel the cat is to our guilty eyes

The most exercised of the All Blacks looked to be replacement Anton Lienert-Brown who gave the longest and dirtest look at the white shirts after the Haka was done.

New Zealand dealt England a deflating start to their autumn campaign as Mark Tele'a came back off the bench to score a decisive 76th-minute try and continue the All Blacks' run of superiority.

England lost narrowly in two Tests against the All Blacks in July and were edged out once more as George Ford's last-play drop-goal drifted agonisingly wide after he had hit the post with a potential match-winning penalty.

The hosts had been on the back foot in the first half, fortunate to only be two points adrift as Marcus Smith's boot repaired some of the damage from Tele'a and Will Jordan's tries.

But Smith snatched an interception early in the second half to set up a try for Immanuel Feyi-Waboso to give England the lead, before edging the hosts out to a 22-14 advantage.

Belief coursed through Twickenham but ultimately a performance of stubborn determination went unrewarded as Tele'a dived in late on to cap a period of pressure and England's late rally could not salvage victory.

England's players, including the substituted Smith, consoled Ford as they trudged away from another painful loss, while winning captain Scott Barrett went off with his jubilant team to collect the Hillary Shield.

Eighth-tier Hednesford’s hopes of making history were snatched away by Gainsborough, who staged a dramatic comeback to win their FA Cup first-round tie 5-4 on penalties after extra time ended in a 4-4 deadlock.

Hednesford were the lowest-ranked side remaining in the competition, and were looking to book their first trip to the second round in over 25 years, just a day after Steve King was sacked following what the club called “a breakdown in the relationship” with the former first-team boss.

Interim management trio Martin Hunter, Junior Lewis and Andy Turner took charge of the hosts, who took a fourth-minute lead through Manny Duku and the lead was doubled by Omar Holness in the 21st minute, before Dominic McHale added a third four minutes into the second half.

Declan Howe’s brace drew the visitors within one, and just as the hosts looked on course to wrap up victory, Will Lancaster forced extra time with an equaliser in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

Holness quickly restored Hendesford’s lead, but the sides were all-square once more when Javelle Clarke found the net in the second period of extra time to ensure the result would be decided by a shootout.

Dylan Wharton made three saves in the shootout to swing momentum in favour of Trinity, who were finally able to close out victory when Jordan Helliwell fired home the winning spot kick.
