One person has died and seven others are missing, officials said, after "unprecedented" rains caused floods and landslides in the coastal quake-hit region of Ishikawa in northern Japan.

Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) on Saturday issued its highest "life-threatening" alert level for the Ishikawa region, following torrential rains which are expected to last until midday on Sunday.

More than 40,000 people across four cities have been ordered to evacuate after at least a dozen rivers in the region burst their banks.

Two of the missing were carried away by strong river currents, according to Japan's public service broadcaster NHK.

The New Saints will play their home Europa League Conference matches at the home of English League One side Shrewsbury Town.

Oswestry-based Saints will host Djurgarden, Astana and Panathinaikos after becoming the first club from the Cymru Premier to reach the group phase of a European competition.

They also face away trips to Fiorentina, Shamrock Rovers and Celje.

The club's own Park Hall stadium meets Uefa regulations for staging qualifying games, but not matches in the main draw of European competitions.

“We’d like to thank Shrewsbury Town for allowing us to host these historic matches at the Croud Meadow," said The New Saints chairman Mike Harris.

“We are hopeful the community will come out in full force to support The New Saints as we face some of the continent’s biggest clubs.

“Being so close to our Park Hall home will mean that supporters from Oswestry, mid Wales, and north Wales can travel to cheer on the team.”

A capybara who went missing from a Shropshire zoo sparking news coverage around the world has been reunited with her family and is settling back in.

Will Dorrell, from Hoo Zoo in Telford, said Cinnamon celebrated her first birthday while she was on the run.

He said: “It’s quite possible that she just popped down to the pub and had a week-long hangover.”

The giant rodent is recovering in private and should be on display again from next week, he said.

A belated birthday party is planned to take place for her next month.

Mr Dorrell said news of Cinnamon’s escape spread as far as media reports in North America.

He said there had already been talk of a children’s book and a movie based on Cinnamon’s adventure.

He said: “I don’t think she’s entirely aware of all the fuss she’s made to be honest, but she’s back settled in now back with her parents and her brother.”

While Cinnamon was missing, there were concerns she could end up on neighbouring Ministry of Defence land or nearby roads, but zookeepers aimed to coax her back and not scare her away.

They set up live traps and played capybara noises to encourage her home.

Eventually, 10 people went into a lake to move her back into a waiting cage.

After she was reunited with her brother, Churro, the pair settled down and snuggled up straight away, Mr Dorrell said.

Her parents seemed “very disappointed in her” but all four were friends again now and the family back together, he said.

“All that really was ever important to us was getting her back safe and sound and now that is the case we can all breathe a sigh of relief,” he added.

New Zealand scientists have discovered a new species of "ghost shark" - a rare type of fish that is incredibly hard to spot because it lives at great depths in the Pacific Ocean.

Also known as a spookfish or chimera, ghost sharks are closely related to sharks and rays. They do not have scales and their skeletons are made completely of cartilage.

Dr Brit Finucci, one of the scientists who discovered the Australasian Narrow-nosed Spookfish, said the find was "exciting".

"Their habitat makes them hard to study and monitor, meaning we don't know a lot about their biology or threat status," she said.

Dr Finucci and other researchers from New Zealand's National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (Niwa) found the creature in an area of ocean floor known as Chatham Rise, which lies to the east of New Zealand.

Ghost sharks typically live at depths of up to 2,600m (1.6 miles).

Dr Finucci said the species stood out for its unusually long snout, which can make up half its body length.

She has given the new fish a scientific name with a personal twist: Harriota avia.

“Avia means grandmother in Latin, I wanted to give this nod to her because she proudly supported me through my career as a scientist,” Dr Finucci explained.

“Chimaeras are also rather ancient relatives – the grandmas and grandpas – of fish and I thought the name was well suited.”

The spookfish was initially thought to be part of a species found around the world. However, research later revealed it was genetically different to its cousins and lived exclusively in Australian and New Zealand waters.

Scientists say discoveries like this are crucial, because learning more about how the species lives helps experts figure out the best ways to protect them.

Christopher Nkunku scored a hat-trick as Chelsea cruised into the fourth round of the Carabao Cup with a convincing win over League Two Barrow at Stamford Bridge.

Nkunku opened the scoring in the eighth minute with a cool finish after a fine chipped pass from Joao Felix.

The forward soon added his second with a clever flick to divert Malo Gusto's low cross into the net, before a Felix free-kick hit the post and bounced in off Barrow goalkeeper Paul Farman to give the Blues a 3-0 half-time lead.

Two minutes after the restart Pedro Neto scored his first Chelsea goal by tapping in after Mykhailo Mudryk's pass across goal.

Nkunku completed his hat-trick in the 75th minute after tackling keeper Farman and passing the ball into an empty net.

Thanks to his first Chelsea treble, the 26-year-old Frenchman now has six goals in eight appearances this season for the Blues.

Nkunku was making his first start for the hosts since their opening-day defeat by Manchester City last month.

Animal Crossing is an endless and non-linear game in which a human (the player) takes up residence in a village inhabited by anthropomorphic animals. The main goal of the game is to save money in order to pay off the mortgage on the player's house. This requires collecting natural materials and selling them. The player can engage in everyday life in the village, interact with the animals, attend events, and contribute to the village's development. The game's western localization differs significantly from the original release in that Japanese holidays and cultural references are replaced with Western ones.

Animal Crossing was a critical and commercial success domestically and internationally, attracting many non-traditional gaming audiences. Critics praised the game's unusual but immersive and addictive gameplay, which was devoid of purpose and stressful elements. Criticisms centered on its outdated graphics and simple art style. The game is considered one of the earliest examples of the casual game genre, and marked the beginning of a franchise of the same name, which saw further success in its sequels. It is considered to be one of the greatest games of all time.
