Mate, i've played at a pretty decent level
.............
No you have not, if you can not pick out a fourty yard pass.
You have only played at playground level.
Giggs has played at the highest level for twenty five years or so.
I expect him to pick out fourty yard passes. And far more regularly than he does.
Rob...I'm struggling to find where I mentioned Van Persie's name, or stated that the fact that a player does something once automatically means that it becomes like second nature.
Quite the opposite infact...It was you who brought up the lame argument stating that Giggs' long ball was something that nobody else can do - therefore implying that Giggs and Giggs alone stands out in that department.
Yes, he may have impressed over the Christmas period, but he flatters to deceive more often than not. He can also start games and ruin a game better than anyone else...ie the fact that when he has started we have been overrun/woeful in the middle of the park.
You state that Sir Alex is the best manager ever, but to me it seems as if you know more about our team than he does or at least as much...do you know Sir Alex to say with confidence that he is playing Giggs/Scholes for the aforementioned reasons as opposed to the fact that we have nobody else available due to reluctance in the transfer market?
The only thing staring me in the face are the losses/near misses that we have incurred as a result of them being on the pitch...They have lost us more games than they have won...simple!
Sadly for me, like Giggs, I could only do it once every five or six games.
-------------
i actually agree with that statement.
ive seen anderson, carrick, cleverly and evans play balls like that.
dont get me wrong, when played on the left, or in a cameo in the middle for 15 mins or so giggs still has something to offer, and a lot more to offer than scholes.
its only a matter of time before scholes costs us big time with his rash challenges, he no longer has the energy to compete and instead gives away stupid free kicks to compensate for this.
So had we not conceded that penalty in the 94th minute and held on for a 3-2 win would you have slated the performance?
We made 10 changes to our first team for that game whereas Chelsea had Cech, Mata, Mikel, Luiz, Cahill and Azpilicueta playing. They also brought on Oscar, Hazard and Ramires.
To be winning 3-2 in the 93rd minute was a brilliant performance by us.
Whether it was Nani/Hernandez or Wooton's fault we conceded so late it would be silly to forget how well we played up until then.
And VC, we played very well in the Chelsea game
-------------
im gonna agree with rob on this.
given the team we put out, and the team chelsea played, only sloppy play by inexperinced defenders and fergies awful decision to name a shockingly weak bench cost us that game.
So had we not conceded that penalty in the 94th minute and held on for a 3-2 win would you have slated the performance?
.................
I didn't slate the performance. I said we didn't play well. Five golas conceeded suggests we were not very good defensively.
Well, it does to me, and I suspect everyone else on here apart from you.

OMG
Bet even Rob pi55ed himself over that
Haha good shout Vidicschin. I played semi pro for a few years until I got too plump. Played a couple of years in Brazil too for the B team of a seria B team.
I had trials with an English league club.
But I pale into comparison with VC who regularly used to hit those 40 yard passes straight to the feet of his teammates with ease.
I checked out your clips on youtube VC but the quality of footage from 1948 is a bit sketchy.
What position? Trials are pretty standard as a young kid. How old were you?
Rob
To be fair you asked who was capable of playing a ball like that. Obviously all are.
You can't use one pass in one game to stipulate how good a player Ryan still is, you really can't. And that is why some have taken you on regarding it.
Giggs' passing really isn;t up there with the likes of Carrick Clevs Rooney or even Scholes for that matter.
It's daft to use that one pass as some kind of Giggs benchmark and you know it too
played conference football when i could actually run... damn cigs!
Macca
Perhaps other players in the squad could do it.
Carrick, Rooney and Scholes max. Not Cleverley though.
But the fact remains that Giggs did it. And did it inch perfectly in a very important moment of the game for us. Yet he's had zero praise on here for it.
As a United legend that seems pretty unfair.

We had a guy that tried to get into our team who had trials with City.
He didn't get into our team. Wasn't good enough. He could hit the odd 40 yard pass though, straight to the feet of his intended target.
Cabescudo
A league one club at age 18. Came back for a second day too.
Not Cleverley though.
Of course Cleverley could do it. He wouldn't have come through our youth system if he couldn't pick a 40 yard pass out.
Get a grip of yourself Rob.
This isn't a new skill available to a select few.

Saying Clevs couldn't play a pass like that is a joke btw
It was an amazing ball but Giggs tries them sort of balls all the time and never pulls them off. It's pretty frustrating. If you do anything enough times, you'll get it right one time.
Macca
Playing a pass isn't that hard but playing it inch perfectly at a stage of the game where the opposition are fighting extremely hard to keep you out is very difficult.
Not everyone can do it and it's ridiculous to think VC could do it.
Those kind of passes are reserved for the special players and is why you don't see it done every week.
Cabescudo
I think you're being a bit harsh when judging Giggs.
Whatever criticisms people have of his 'legs' being spent, he still has the great talent he has 10 years ago and is one of the best ever players to pull on a United shirt.
To say he's just a guy who tries things and a small percentage of them come off is a bit OTT.
