Tell me how having Giggs in the squad is hindering us?

................

Because someone younger isn't getting any game time.

This isn't rocket science. And you have been told this before by me, Macca, Dunc and probably Arab.

No he doesn't have the talent anymore to be in the squad, even on the bench I'd rather see a youngster with potential being nurtured then watching someone nearing on 40 hindering the development of players.
------------------------------------------------------
There are only two people you can blame for such an instance.... SAF for picking Giggs and the youngster, for not doing enough to impress.

It's amazing the amount of misdirected bile aimed at Giggs.... He obviously still thinks he can perform, so it is not his fault (and played on the left, i think he can still do pretty well).

wow, you are so forward thinking.

.............

A lot more than you are, obvuiously.

Thanks Rob.

You've said some stupid things before but this takes the cake.

'Someone younger'? How old is this someone? 18? 25? 35?

Once you're in the United first team squad age is immaterial. Thank god football managers don't listen to the fans or else every player would retire at 30 and loyalty would be a thing never used.

The fact of the matter is that you're spoilt. The best thing fans of a club whether it be United or Doncaster is success. Now you want success but on your terms.

The players have to be of a certain age. The style of play has to be exactly this. 7 points clear isn't enough. 54 goals isn't enough.

For someone who was in the military you seem to forget about the ethos of a team being the sum of its parts.

Giggs and Scholes are there for a reason. Apparently one you're too stupid to appreciate.

i do slightly disagree to a pont here in regards to giggs.

unlike scholes giggs still has something to offer if played in the right way.

They're there because Fergie hasn't replaced them. The fact is, our squad would be much stronger with decent 'younger players' 20-30 to be exact before you start getting ridiculous again like you just did with VC rather than relying on a 38 and 39 year old.

Replace 30 with 38 or 39 and read the sentence again

Taking nearly a decade of their ages to make a point means you don;t really have a point Rob

Oh dear.

There is a very good reason why the British Army retires its soldiers after 22 years of service.

I am going to let you think about why this is, because it is very apt to the Giggs and Scholes issue.

You actually couldn't have picked on someting more wrong to back you up than using the Military.

What a dunce.

I think you're missing the point. I said that if fans were in charge then players would retire at 30.

Whether the players I refer to are 32,34,36,38,40 etc, what makes you think that you have any right to ask Sir Alex that they retire?

If we were in 8th place and uncompetitive I could maybe see your point but if you went up to Sir Alex and asked why we have Giggs and Scholes in the squad he'd just laugh in your face and point to the league table.

I was talking more of a philosophy but if you think that a couple of guys playing the odd match here or there is the same as being out on a battlefield where lives are at risk then I feel safer knowing her majesty hasn't given you a gun and send you out there to defend the country.

Why do you always come out with this every time someone corrects you?

Do you have it on some form of Autocue?

Then don't. You are out of your depth at football, don't bother to go into the Military.

So Rob wants both the oldies to play until they are 50. As long as Giggs does those fancy long passes (which fail 90% of the time)he can play however long he wants.

I think that is pretty much the gist of it.

All I want is for so called United supporters to back two United legends until they retire.

If that is too much for you all then I suggest you go support someone else like Chelsea who are more interested in their next big signing rather than enjoying seeing club legends contribute to their clubs success in their own small ways.

Why on earth would I want to support Chelsea, I despise everything they stand for?

I think you are being a drama queen again Rob.

Rob is so short sighted it's unreal. He just waits for somebody to one thing good then says I told you so. A.k.a Theo Walsh*it. Been gash for 5 years, gets a hatrick and Rob pipes up "told you he was amazeballs, i'm right, you're wrong, i'm all knowing, you're all stupid."

Seriously bro, stick to Aussie rules football and dingo hunting.

Giggs and Scholes could stay here another 5 seasons and they will get my full backing because of everything they've done for the club.

Surely that's what a 'supporter' would do. i.e - support the players?

Do what you will but I sleep easy knowing that I haven't given up on them.

posted on 10/1/13

rob,

everyone is entitled to their opinions, and i wouldnt call people having an opinion on a forum not backing players.

i dont think scholes should play, but i still support him when im at OT.

posted on 10/1/13

Dunc

That's a fair point but I get the feeling some people on here wouldn't back these players, even at OT.

Backward thinking.

Leads to inevitable failure. Forest said the same about Cloughie.

I do support our players. I don't have to agree that they should be playing though. That is any supporters right. I am not as simple minded and easilly led as you are Rob.

Just because it happened to Forest doesn't mean it'll happen to us.

Are we not still very successful?

Does that fact not allow Sir Alex to get the benefit of the doubt?

And the whole 'commie' term is hilarious. Do people still use that?

------------
No one is suggesting Carrick retires and he is 32 this year

Not once have I said I have the right to ask Sir Alex anything

What I do have the right of is an opinion. And playing 38 and 39 year olds in midfield is something you won't find at a top club anywhere else.

And please don't go around stating United fans wouldn't support them at OT because that is utterly ridiculous. I wrote a piece not long ago stating that anyone who doesn;t get pleasure seeing 2 legends gracing the OT pitch at their age are not true United fans. When Paul Scholes came out of retirement to ease our injury crisis, I was as excited as hell at the thought of seeing one of the greatest players I ever saw grace the OT pitch again. It was a joy to see him back

But

All of the above is fine as long as it is not at the expense of winning football matches

You can twist things all you like which I see you did with the 30 year old retirement age nonsense comment but the fact remains I love them both as players and will continue to do so as long as they are here but no one will ever convince me they are still good enough to start PL matches

you pap on as tjhough you're the best United fan in the world, have a go at people for not getting behind the players, then you then go on to state Tom Cleverley isn't capable of playing a 40 yard pass

I think you say things just to prolong arguments

posted on 10/1/13

Macca

You are the master of accusing people of twisting things when you yourself won't accept the simple facts.

I never once said I was the best United supporter in the world. I'm not even the best on this forum.

Your accusation is that me saying that Cleverley can't hit a 40 yard pass to RVP's feet is the same as most people on here saying that Sir Alex is losing it for using Giggs and Scholes still.

Really?

You also realise that we have lost matches in our history without 38/39 year old players and will still do when Giggs and Scholes retire? We also have won matches with them in the side. Even this season.

We are 7 points clear. We are massive favourites for the title. Is it really that hard to just accept the reality of the situation and look for the positives in Giggs and Scholes being here rather than try and find fault in them when we lose matches?

ll I see is 'Giggs this, Scholes that'. What about all the other players who are to blame for when things go wrong? It just seems that Giggs and Scholes are easy targets.

if you really loved them then you should take a look at the league table, accept that football is just a game and nothing worth all this trouble and be positive. It's really not that hard.

We were not last season.

SAF is the main man. He gets the credit when we win, and he should take the flak when we lose. Especially if it is down to him. That, I am afraid, my party towing little friend is where the buck stops, with SAF.

................................

And the whole 'commie' term is hilarious. Do people still use that?

.............

That is how you come across though Rob. You think SAF is above question, as are Giggs and Scholes, and that we should all just be quite and nod our collective heads, without dissent.
