Play Scannell up front on his own, let Lee go to the bank to cash in his wages!

Champagne_SuperNovak's Recipe for Disaster

You will need:

- 4 fl oz very poor ageing striker
- 250g no tactical nous
- one large, chopped average full back
- 6 tsp of what the f-ck are you doing?!

Directions

1. Punt ball to aging striker
2. Allow aging striker to lose ball (this should happen v quickly)
3. Lose shape in midfield. If done correctly this should leave your average full back totally exposed.
4. Repeat steps 1, 2 & 3 until soundly beaten

Pathetic !

A lone striker at home against a struggling prem side ?
Lee isn't fit - enough.

When I saw something rolling around in the mud, I wondered what it was. Then the whites of Alan Lee's eyes emerged!

robins picked that starting 11..
robins decided how we would play..
robins put clarke back into the team..
robins watched when we decided to surrender half the pitch again..
robins then reacted like clark and then grayson did after the games was ultimately lost..
he is a young manager and has been brought up the same way as clark and grayson..
lillis on the other hand is all about commitment and fight..
which do we ultimately need this season???
dont send answers on a postacrd is a rhetorical question..
lee is excellent for the last 15/20 minutes, he doesent start games..
clarke took us backwards and we let in 2 goals in open play from very close range..hunt had a shocker but had no cover behind him at all..clarke ran away for the first goal allowing the lad an easy shot from a few yards, second again no one covering, all running back and standing inside the 6 yard box, its not bad defending, its just not defending at all..
We had a good 20 minutes in the 2nd half and showed we can play, but only in their half, we cant play or defend very well in ours, nothings changed we have to get the ball out and support it or we get spanked..
Someone said we are saving ourselves for tuesday night, i f-cking hope so.. This planning ahead bollox is just that, bollox.. It therefore follows we should play a weakened side on tuesday so we have a better chance of winning the home game against ipswich, although we should play a weakened side againt them because we are playing Burnley after that and they are better than ipswich, see what I mean?, its bollox.. You play your best team today and try and win the game, tuesday is a another day..
Said it before, if you only try to "win" a game for 20 minutes or so and wait to be goals behind before doing so, you wont win many games...
Young managers and coaches, all cut from the same cloth, all reliant on manuals and power point presentations, we need robins to have a pair, lets hope he has..

Glad I only paid £5 for that....and 12,000 gate ? over 2,000 from Wigan ...just shows, you can change the wrapper, you can change the name on the wrapper, but the ingredients are still sheite ...

At 0-3 with half an hour to go, I was ready to go home...thankfully Novak and then Norwood stepped in and got us going...but deary me...talk about making a team look a good side, yes give them 3/4 of the pitch to play in by all means, have 11 men back for a corner,,,it don't work ffs, they scored 4 goals !!

Oh dear.

Robbins out !

Disappointed in robins, he changed the diamond formation which worked for us in recent weeks. Wallace had a good game against Leicester, lynch had a decent game against Cardiff, yet he plays Clarke why does he deserve to start? It took leek lark ages to drop him Grayson even longer, how long will it take for robins to realise he's crap? Norwood should have started. Danny's isn't a winger. Arfield runs around a lot but doesn't do much. Hunt had a mare. Clarke made gerrard look crap. Lee is a late sub nothing else. Scannell wasn't given the ball enough. Novak and Vaughan must start on Tuesday. Clayton and woods were solid today as always. Wigan weren't that good and will probs be relegated this season.

Rant over

That was embarrassing! I didnt think we would win but we didnt compete enough. If someone can tell me why we lumped it up to Lee continuously when it never ever works, let alone against a Premier League team. If we had played today like we did against Cardiff we would have had a far better chance of winning but we were just backing off all the time.

I seriously think if Peter Clarke is sold or released in the summer I am not going to renew my season ticket. It seems that whoever is in charge, when he is on the field he has the biggest influence on the way we play and that is sit deep and lump it up.

I hope Mark Robins has balls and drops him for the rest of the season.

Also Hunt just doesnt look like he will make the grade. Yes he didnt have support but he isnt sharp enough so he always has a lot to do, it doesnt come naturally to him. If £2M is still on the table we snap their hands off and get someone in who can defend. Frankly I would rather Woods played RB right now.

In my pre match post I talked about Desire and whether Wigan would have it .. They DID Oodles of it ..

Alas Not sure we did .. And The Main Reason .. WELL ~

Too Much happening over the last 7 to 10 days .. Very Distracting .. and if WE the fans can be troubled by it (and we were) then so can the players ..

1st Half we really weren't at the races so Atkinson n Lee (obvious choices) were duly withdrawn .. Well done Robins .. ..
However lets be honest here NEVER was a GULF in class so painfully obvious .. Wigan (so far as Prem Teams go) may be unfashionable but boy were they boringly good ..

Well Drilled & Perfectly Clinical and at 45mins ~Zero-2 sempt about right .. I was reasonably cool ~ ~ with that and thought to myself how sh-t it would be to have to watch an espaniola side like~ Wigan play like that every week .. If thats what it takes to cling around the lower reaches of the premiership then count me out ..

Half Time Entertainment was superb and the sight of that Pie Eating Wigan fan chasing our announcer 20 yards or so with a broom handle was worth anyones tenner .. Just a Shame he didn't get close enough to Whack Him with it ..

Back to the game .. Subs made, followed by an uncalled for third (presumably Saving Scannel for the Forest Match) and our game picked up .. We became quite Purposeful and Robins must've felt Yeah I've got summat to work with here .. and he has .. ..

However much of this was down to Wigan 'resting' for a while only
to 'bite' back when we could'a really done without it .. So 1 - 4 and better result than Leeds from a better side with a brighter Manager and my £1 says we end up much higher than them come end of this season ..

Am I bovvered about todays score and or result .. Well NO not really I half expected it anyway and no shame in losing to a side of that ilk and who remind me a bit of Everton ~ Methodical ~ But Boringly So ..

So Oldham n Bradford Got Lucky .. But will either of em think so if they are relegated or in Bantams case fail to gain promotion ..

These Cup Matches are a drufty distraction from what a Seasons all about .. Winning Titles .. So I look forward to Mark Robins Reigning Deans 'Charges' in and turning them into a League Ascending Side to be reckoned with ..

Todays Match .. Let it go .. Its History .. and a small price to pay If/When at the end of the season we're riding reasonably high in a division we can think ourselves proud to be in .. ..

Robins will have learned a lot today about the players he's inherited and lets hope he can now separate the "wheat from the chaff" and put it to good use for the rest of the season, which incidentally I think he will do.

We were never going to win the FA Cup, which was a distraction we can well do without, so give Robins a chance to work his magic. We've still 15 matches to play and a win against Forest will take us to within 4 points of eighth placed Blackburn.

Also the knockers need to stop being such impatient, cynical and fickle f-ckers for most of the time and get behind Robins and his players.

Today, the Town team looked exactly what it is... a team struggling in the lower reaches of the Championship, with ‘relegation’ writ large upon it.

They have too many players who appear not to understand the basics of football, and consequently make a simple game look very difficult. The match stats on the Town website credit the Terriers with the grand total of three shots on target... I can only remember one.

Hunt’s reputed £2m valuation will have plummeted like Felix Baumgartner, but then readers may remember my stating some time ago that I didn’t rate him as a full back, or a winger, and I don’t recognise the term ‘wing-back’.

Surely the advocates of Alan Lee starting a game will now see the error of their ways.

Norwood is receiving some praise on this board, but personally I can’t see the point of Norwood. He calls for the ball from defenders, or goes and gets it from them, and then, with space and time, he dithers until the opposition start to close him down, and then passes the ball back whence it came, or to someone square. In the words of Ernie’s dad... “Daft, I call it!”

For quite some time I have been of the opinion that Town’s midfield has contributed very little to the overall effort. I am now of the opinion that there is actually no midfield at all. The midfield is in fact a, myth, and Robins may as well play a goalkeeper, five defenders and five forwards.

I recently stated on this board that I would keep Novak and get rid of the rest. I haven’t changed my mind on that assessment.

For those of you who might have missed the result... on Saturday Huddersfield Giants beat Wigan Warriors 22-10. It was a game to remember.

Hunt is a one trick pony, today he got found out. When he's up against better and quicker players he's just average.

I'm just watching it back, it's still sh it! How annoying is that fecking drum btw? I sit near it, but never take any notice.

alan lee can play the last 15/20 minutes..
i suspect alan lee could start a game if he actually had anyone near him in support..
alan lee cant start games when he is the only blue/white shirt in their half.. i think vaughan would find that incredibly difficult as well. albeit that at least he offers the ball in the channels or over the top whilst you have to hit alan lee with it..

today was a cup tie and we should have "gone for it" from the start...nothing to lose and i dont think we would have lost 4-1...

if you allow the opposition to "start" every attack with one of their midfield waltzing into our half with no pressure on the ball, you will surely get dicked..

if your central defenders drop deep at the drop of every "hat" but dont get over and cover the full backs you will end up with loads of blue/white shirts stood motionless or worse, blocking smithies view of the ball in the centre of the goal...

if your "raiding" full back gets forward and nobody steps across to cover you will get dicked...

if you are 3-1 down with a couple of minutes left and your goalie rolls the ball out to the centre half(who is expecting him to kick it long, we are running out of time you f-ckwit) then you have more chance of them scoring than yourselves..

great goal from novak, close thing from vaghan, then we stopped trying to cross it at every opportunity??????

Are town the only club not to get the "new manager rush"????
