Thats the point. No way can we make those sort of splashes and anything less keeps the media attention on our failure to win the league against Leicester or Spurs.

Rambo/Elneny worked very well. And thats what most said last summer. Buy a new spine. A Striker (first most import case), a DM who can distribute and a commanding fast CB. That will win you the league.
What did Wenger do? Waited till Jan for Elneny and threw him straight in. Its lucky he has learned to swim rather than sinking like so many have done under Wenger recently.

I wonder if Wenger will do a burn and scorch tactic so that whoever follows him has problems like Fergie. Sell the silverware and keep trash like Giroud. So that most fans who have memories like goldfishes think back of Wenger fondly rather than the ego maniac he has turned into over the last 5 years.

Firstly, it was West Brom, who had nothing to play for, managed by Pulis who has lost every single away game to Arsenal.
Secondly, i don't think the issue in our midfield was Coq's limitations - I think it is that, in Santi's absence (still by far out best CM). we have no one with creativity, maturity and discipline.
Elneny has been good, but it is exaggerated by comparison to how bad Ramsey has been.

Agree. I think it's quite easy to be a "keep it simple" player when you have someone like Coq next to you. I think we need a mix of Coq/Cazorla but Elneny is a good player who can cover a few different roles
