No sure this is the way that relationship should work though. Surely it should be the DoF setting the agenda, otherwise what’s the point of having one?
--------------------------
Generally I don't think thats true with any top club not called Chelsea.
I believe the manager always sets the agenda and the DoF works to make it happen.
But then its the managers job to actually make his system work with the players he demanded.
Otherwise why not just have Edu and then a pure head coach? Cut out the middle man altogether?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
See, that’s how I thought / presumed the Edu / Arteta relationship would work. Both inexperienced, but at least a bit of delineation between their roles at the club.
Wtf Josh made Arteta manager so soon just shows how deep the problems run at this club.

Working under Levy with their best player abt to leave is not the same proposition as Arsenal Dj.

We haven't got a best player, so I make you right there.
Have you joined the Stan fan club now?

Well yeah exactly My point. Biggest club in Scotland but still went to a bigger job in england.
I think it's ridiculous to think he won't take the Arsenal job, should he be offered it

Yeah, delusion hits people all the time.
I might be biased but I do think we have some exciting young players who could be an attractive option for a manager like Brendan.
Plus, who wouldn't want a job which you'd have to fail very, very badly before getting the sack.

"Arteta wanted both. "
that's not what you said a few months ago
Besides what exactly is the point of a DoF/Technical director when a manager is already in place. Unless both manager and doF are inexperienced and thus share the burden or the job.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The blind leading the blind, springs to mind.
Or at least shared ownership of the blame.
Anyway, Leicester will bottle CL football. Their run in is epic and West Ham will take the final spot.

I’m not talking about Arteta’s coaching abilities though. Merely who at Arsenal ultimately makes decisions about transfers.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think its the manager Lex. And then Edu tries to make his wishes happen. It can't always as the player may not be too enthused abt joining us in our position. Which is why I kept on making the point abt how much harder it made Edu's job when Arteta started politicking with Ozil and then Auba. You can say things at Man City and get away with it because the club will pay whatever the agent may demand. But you could see with Aouar that he wanted extra to come to us when PSG were also making overtures.

We do have a better squad than Spurs without Kane.

Arteta is not the cause of our decline.
Arteta is a symptom of bad ownership.
KSE are 100% responsible for where we are right now.
The culture at Arsenal is a losing one.
I would say if we were a well run club Arteta would be sacked in the morning
1/5
But if I'm honest, if we were well-run he wouldn't have been hired in the first place.
The rot runs so deep in this club and personally, I don't know where we go from here.
Sacking a manager isn't that big of a deal if the club is run properly

Btw, from what Arteta said after the game, he didn't plan to be that negative in the first half. So the players not listening to him again? Dafuq has he been doing the last 18 months?? π€
We should be able to sack Arteta and the plans remain intact because the club's philosophy is created by the DOF and/or ownership.
But we do everything stupidly and the recruitment and squad building plans are built around Arteta.
A novice.
This club is in shambles.

Best thing Peebs has said all season tbh
We had 4 shots on target over two games.
One of which was a penalty.
Arteta has zero excuses, when creating chances has been our main problem all season.
