As is lowering the wage bill.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not really. Wages are proportional to transfer fees. Those incoming are on a lot of money. And those youngsters winding down their contracts are demanding a lot to stay.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They are compared to the average man in the street, but not compared to the players they are either replacing, or will replace at Arsenal.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
White will be on c£180k+ a week cause he cost the same as Lacazette and so on. He is a £50m+ player and he is not going to give us a discount just cause he is English.
I suspect Odegaard is on c£120k a week.
Ramsdale on £100k+ a week. Similar to Leno. etc.
Tomi on £80k a week.
Auba got a £100k a week more for staying on so he supposedly on £300k a week cause he renewed. I won't be at all shocked if Xhaka is on c£150k+ a week.
Suspect Saka and ESR got bumper pay rises because of their est. worth.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Suspect you're wrong about most, if not all, of those wages tbh.

We don't disclose. Lets see the over all wage bill next season.
So your whole previous post about wages is??

I know ppl quoting £6m a season. I bet it will be nearer £9m
All those players are 22-23.
If we're paying them the wages you're suggesting, none will be offered extensions (beyond the +1s in their contracts). I mean, even if he turns out to be amazing, where do you go with White after starting him on £180k?

Depends on what he will be worth when his contract comes up for renegotiation.
He is already worth £50m+ now. If he is out performing and doing VVD type things 11m-12m a season excl inflation
Or if he does a Xhaka and gets shietter along the years then he also gets a payrise to 11-12m a year
Tbh if he's doing that well, unless Arsenal are Cl regulars by then, I'd imagine the plan is to sell him.
But then we'd surely only get what we're looking for if he's on reasonable wages, surely?

Well if that happens it means nothing much will have changed at the club in 2-3 seasons time.
Something to look forward to then
Can't wait. It's 2026 and Xhaka (c) offered 5 year extension and role as player manager to steer the club into the next level and push for promotion back to the Championship
I know this is going to viewed as another 'lowering our expectations' comment, but I seriously think Arsenal are going for the Dortmund / Leicester model of buying younger players, developing them and selling them on in a few years time. Hopefully for a profit.
