Southgate obviously doesn't want to discuss White, as he wants to respect his privacy. Discussing the Star story only gives it legs. He shot it down by refusing to even acknowledge it.

Do you think its common for people to lie? Why would Southgate undermine himself with the risk a player confirming Steve Holland side a year down the line? Especially when Steve Holland is his coach and it was serious enough to send him home!

Yes, it is very common for people to lie. Especially when they have a down market rag to sell.

Mad how the "leak" only reached one journo, who works for the worst newspaper going. If anything, I would expect that story to have been put out on purpose to divert from the real reason White left.

Right. So is it better for Ben White when people speculate that he is queeer and is about to be outed. What else did you suggest? That he had cancer?

An accusation of not preparing properly or doing his homework is not going to hurt Ben White's reputation in the long term.

Mass silence and "respect Bens privacy" for a small falling out

"We are with you Ben" because he didn't do his homework

But, yeah, one source from the Daily Star that was dismissed out of hand by Southgate.

Do you also believe there is a bus on the moon cos the Sport said so

ps - I never said he had cancer
I always stated no-one knows the reason...

The role(s) Arteta demands from his players suggests most, if not all, will need an above average football IQ to perform well for Arsenal.

Given White has been one of our best players so far this season it suggests he’s not ‘thick’ nor someone who can’t follow instructions.

He might need to feel needed to engage though - which would suggest a lack of maturity.

I’d imagine seeing Southgate turn to Eric Dier in preference to you would be soul destroying for most professional footballers though.

Pp has started to rub off on you dj.

The truth is too mundane.

Exactly, Lex. One of the things we know how Arteta works is there is a lot of emphasis on preparation.

I was just being a bit sneery by calling Ben White dim.

I am sure its similar to what you suggest and a matter of lack of maturity.

Nah, there are millions of openly homosexual male footballers about these days.

posted on 18/12/22

So being gay means you can't play for England and have to be sent home?

In a country where homosexuality is illegal - yeah probably

ps - it was Pete who said he was sent home for being homosexual. I merely said that would be good, cos it isn't a big deal at all.

Right so would believe something as outlandish as that and prefer to believe that Daily Start invented a massive conspiracy to cover it up.

And not the bigger story that a country would force a player to leave their country because he was gay?

Do you know how many openly gay people were working in Qatar for this world cup?

Facking hell, it was banter

But, yeah, I believe the Daily Star reported something that wasn't factually true. I believe they do it a lot.

"Probably, because the result doesn’t reflect the performance. But it’s a good test, a good learning as well for us – games are decided in the boxes. I think they had one or two shots and scored two goals. We had 19 or 20 and had two on target. That’s not enough. Overall, I think everything else was really positive. But that final thing you need to win the games wasn’t good enough today." ---- Arteta.

Lots of confidence in Eddie from Arteta.

Now, where is Thuram's agent's phone number.......

posted on 18/12/22

Where is Eddie mentioned? The shots were mainly long range efforts by Odegaard, Partey, Vieira and Xhaka

posted on 18/12/22

And I suppose when he talks about boxes, Arteta is referring to us taking shots from our box towards Juve's goal.

posted on 18/12/22

It isn't netball Other players than the "goal shooter" are allowed in the box and take shots

And Marcus Thuram is older but with a worse goal record then Nketiah. Seems a strange one to beg for. Only managed double figures in a league once prior to this season

Still don't get why this was ruled out:
