Now Torres is one option I would not want.

posted on 14/10/13

Torres could go back to Atletico which will allow Deigo Costa to go to Real Madrid which will make Benzema available.

A lot of permutations are possible if Lewandowski comes on the market.

Not sure Madrid will be selling another high profile player any soon.
They have already sold Higuain and Özil in the same window. Bale will probably be sidelined for quite a while. Even if they signed Suarez or Costa, they will need all the players they have if they want to compete this year!

Atletico would not sell to Madrid. And as good as form as he's been in, Costa is not Real level.

Costa wont go to Real as Atleti will refuse to sell to their rivals, esp considering the fact they are now both fighting for top spots. They did the same w Aguero. I personally see him staying for 1-2 seasons just like Falcao did the previous years when everyone had him leaving Atleti.
I think the most likely scenario is Suarez to Madrid and Benz to us.

Real Madrid are very high on Morata. So a Suarez/Lewandowski will certainly require the sale of Benzema.

Costa is an option and who knows how long Atletico can maintain their challenge? I agree if they are still challenging till Jan his sale will be impossible. But I don't see this selling to a rival as an issue. Atletico are not in the same position as they were when Torres became an issue.

Weren't we linked with Costa back in january, or was it someone else?

For 10-12 mill we could've had him, or whatever that other player was.

1. Real Madrid are very high on Morata. So a Suarez/Lewandowski will certainly require the sale of Benzema.

2. Costa is an option and who knows how long Atletico can maintain their challenge? I agree if they are still challenging till Jan his sale will be impossible.

=====================
1. They are also known for producing quality players and then letting them go. Mata is a prime example. They released him (or failed to offer him a satisfactory new contract which is basically the same)
Acknowledgement for Morata would be Real bucking their own trend.

2. No one knows but I think this season they are capable of balancing a European adventure and a sustained domestic challenge. They have better depth now and could bite one of the big two. Have already done so by winning the Madrid derby in fact.

3. From the aspect that Torres was an academy product, yes, they are not in the same position about selling Costa.
On the other hand, they are a much more of a direct threat to Real (albeit in the short term but nevertheless) now than they were back then w/ Torres, and a club does not progress by selling their goal machine to a direct rival, esp to a derby rival.

Money talks of course but nothing prevents Atleti from cashing in on Costa by selling him to someone else.

I dont think that Dortmund is prepared to let him go in January. Dortmund in contrary to us stand by their claim to let him go in summer and not earlier. They dont need the money.
------------------------------------------

Not needed the money is not the issue. It hasn't been for Dortmund for years. The issue is, are they willing to see another one of their players leave them for their bitter rivals?

If Arsenal came in with a tasty offer in Jan, and assuming Bayern were cooled off Lewandowski (and he knew about it), Dortmund would sell. Of course they would. Trouble is, i can see a few other clubs go in for Lewandowski, if he became available.

Hello DJ.

Serial even if BVB decide to sell (which they might of course) the decision still rests w/ Lewandowski.

march, if Bayern are still interested in Lewandowski, then all bets are off. Simple as that. But if Guardiola makes it clear that he doesn't want Lewandowski, and the Lewandowski camp know about it, then anything is possible.

Either way, i'd still think he'll be more likely to join Chelsea, but if Arsene made a serious effort and got our German players to work their magic, we can still wish.

In any case, i really hope these reports indicate that Wenger is looking for a top striker this Winter. Last few days reports of Lewandowski, Benzema and Llorente (though i don't rate him as much) have surfaced.

If, and IF we stay within reasonable distance of top spot, and we get a top class striker in Jan, i'd say we're definitely within a sensible shout for a title push.

Maybe my hope of Lewandowski is not dead yet.

Apparently Pep might not be as keen as the likes of Uli Hoeneß and Rummenigge to bring him in, so like someone said above if that is passed on to Lewa, perhaps a big money move could get him in Jan. Still unlikely though

Read a while ago that he didn't want Goetze either, and his opinion was shunned by the Bayern Hierarchy. This time he could be looking to make a bigger impression and might insist that the Board don't buy Lewandowski.

Wouldn't put it past Guardiola. He is a strong willed character and wants to stamp his authority on the club.

No idea why he wouldn't want Lewa though. Incredible striker. Would be best in the league bar RVP if he came here.

Because when it comes to the transfer market, Guardiola is píss poor. He's been responsible for way too many flops and not addressing the main issues at the clubs he's worked under.

I even doubt whether he thinks Lewandowski would work well under his system.

Everyone and their dog sees Bayern don't need Lewa, but if the Bayern top brass really want Lewa and the Pole is willing to join Pep will just have to bear with it.

posted on 15/10/13

Bayern do need Lewandowski. He is better than Mandzukic and it will weaken Dortmund severely. Just because Bayern are sitting on top doesn't mean they should stop strengthening. Pep already made that mistake with Barca and we all saw what happened to them.
