Ok, forget one moment that he is listed as a striker.

When he played in midfield for us against Madrid on Tuesday, he was one of the best players on the pitch.

He is a fantastic footballer. I'm positive the goals will come eventually, given that he scored 12 last season as one of our 3 main strikers.

If you think Welbeck's contribution is limited to being a 'runner' then I can say with confidence that you watch games without understanding the subtleties of what you are seeing

There really is a first time for everything

Danny Welbeck really catches out the people who know sweet FA about football.

There are a lot of people who's thought process goes something like this:

1. Danny Welbeck is 'officially' a striker
2. Danny Welbeck does not score many goals.
3. Danny Welbeck is therefore a poor player.

It's such a simple view to have of the game. Welbeck may not be scoring, but he offers this team so much.

Only idiots are unable to see that Welbeck turns into a bambi on ice in the box. The guy can't finish simple chances. He looks like a newborn giraffe trying to stay on his legs.

It's simple but in the case of a lot of chances he's missed someone who is not just a striker but a player in any position at the highest level should be scoring them.

But at the same time, the number of United fans who I hear say 'Welbeck is 5hit, he scored 2 goals this season!' is unbelievable.

His finishing needs work. But he's 22. Have patience.

Welbeck is a cracking player, runs with the ball well, can go past players, and top notch at tracking back but one big thing is missing and even at 22 it might be another heskey who had all the above at the same age........he cant shoot for toffee! His finishing unless its his head is abysmal! Watch this he' ll score 2 now!!
