You could stick Hernandez centre back and he'd get more than 2 by now just from set pieces.

He was 21
__________
He started the season as a 20 year old.

And finished it at 21. Your point is pointless.

evra, rafael and evans have been better in front of goal than welbeck this season

I guess you forget that British players like giggs Carrick and scholes are among the most criticised players on here.

So don't wheel out weird thoughts about favouritism

For those who forgot Welbeck in 11-12.

It just shows an ignorance as to what this United team is all about.

I think it just shows how spoilt United fans are nowadays. Nothing is every good for them. There are enough teams that would like the likes of Wellbeck in their team etc. I mean, we've had fans on here who have wanted Berbatov out the door 3 months into arriving. Yet, he's still a class striker. No appreciation for anything else apart from, can he score.

Berbatov was lazy and only performed in one of his four seasons with us.

Even on that season he scored 11 in 3 games an wasnt overly consistent.

Wrong player. Ofcourse people wanted to see rid of him.

To be fair Evans has almost been better than Aguero in front of goal this season

Hernandez doesn't get stuck on the wing because he does his job upfront as a striker. Welbeck doesn't.
Come back when Welbeck scores 50+ goals in 2.5 seasons.

The point is, as a 20/21 year old striker playing for United, arguably the biggest club in the world, 12 goals is a good return. No doubt he would of built on that total if was playing as a ST this season.

You haven't answered my question. Is sir Alex an idiot for having faith in welbeck?

Or are you smarter than him?

posted on 10/3/13

Well hes come through the academy had reasonably successfull loan spells. Fergie obviously likes him and is giving him a chance. And in both legs v madrid he didnt let fergie down.

With his finishing? Unlikely.

A player like welbeck 12-15 is the best it's gonna get for him.

He's a slimmer more technical version of heskey.

His goal scoring finishing will never e good enough.

No coincidence that he was Englands top scorer in 2012.

He missed sitters ffs

But Welbeck does have great link up play, hold up play and a lot of technical ability. Hence it gets mentionedH His passing is as consistent as it gets and he plays football the United way. When he sorts his finishing out, which he will, there is a brilliant forward there. He's got all the raw tools. He just needs a bit of composure, something that comes with experience. He's proven a lot more at his age than many top strikers in the past did at the same age.

I see the "he gets more praise because he's local and English." Well, duh! Naturally, fans have more of a connection with lads like him because of what he represents. Of course him being from the academy makes him more popular. And so it should. The day we start giving up on young lads with bags of potential in search of quick fixes from Kazakhstan - or India -is the day I'll not really take much interest in United.

How do you know this?

Come on, i am repeating myself here. Not a good finisher? Volley against City in the FA Cup? Everton? Arsenal, Tottenham? All great finishes in big matches.

Goals against Belgium, Sweden and a brace against San Marino, A bunch insurance brokers andgyn instructors.

So he's scored some good goals? He constantly misses sitters and doesn't consistently score.

Hernandez doesn't play on the wing because he's a shitee footballer, limited to where he can play.

So why didn't Rooney, Defoe, Carroll or Sturridge outscore Welbeck if they were crap opposition and Welbeck is supposed to be so average?

I read quite a few of these Welbeck articles, i'm not anti Welbeck but those you that are pro Welbeck give the excuses of age, playing out of position and lack of game time, but when it comes to putting the ball in the back of the net, he does miss more than he hits and some of them aint that hard, whether or not those excuses can cover that I don't know, those of you who knock him have to think on that both RVP and Rooney have missed a fair few sitters this season, time will tell with Welbeck for now we all must agree he's a good squad player
