It makes me laugh to see all these fortune tellers on here.

Welbeck has played around 30 games this season and we could well win the double with a bit of luck as well as just coming close to knocking Madrid out. Is that not a sign that all of our squad have been important?

As for welbeck missing chances against Madrid, RVP missed more than anyone. And he was playing as a forward.

So why didn't Rooney, Defoe, Carroll or Sturridge outscore Welbeck if they were crap opposition and Welbeck is supposed to be so average?

Id imagine because of injuries and lack of game time.

Also that goal against Sweden was in the Euros, the goal what put us through to the quarter finals. A very meaningful goal.

Well Considering Defoe, sturridge and caroll wernt getting much game time last season it's not really surprising he was a starter.

I do doubt that rvp ever had a season where he got 2 goals by this stage.

Well infairness you can spell out what you like rob, I still wouldn't pay attention to you.

Playing out of position is no excuse to be so dross when it comes to finishing. He can't handle the pressure and its clearly not an area of his game he's worked hard on. He would do well to ask Hernandez for tips

No. But his overall game wasn't as refined as Welbeck's. He played mainly as a left forward, having played there at Feyenoord, and wasn't much more productive. Did he have raw tools to be a great player? Yes. Does Welbeck? Yes. Composure is quite possibly the easiest thing Welbeck can work on. If he couldn't trap cement there'd be a problem. With coaching, practice, experience and a big, big effort, his composure will improve, his confidence will increase, and we'll see as complete a forward as you'll find. If that doesn't happen then something's gone very wrong.

Stretty it almost seems like you and other posters want welbeck to fail just so you can be proved right. FFS hes a lad thats come through the academy give him a feckin chance. Hes workin his socks off just got a goal and rave reveiws against madrid and not because he is english. My opinion is I think the lad will come good and wouldnt it be great for the academy if he did

What is this refined link up play people are hyping about. So many times I have seen Welbeck have a poor first touch, poor passing and looking clumsy on the ball.
Not to mention his legs give out like a new born antelope in the box.
