If Bayern can avoid Barca I think they will make the final. They look too strong for Madrid and are a better team than BVB.

lots of gooners crying on the arsenal board

loving it

Theyre only so far ahead in their league because Dortmund prioritized the cl.

And because they've only dropped 9 points.

You must have watched a different match because arsenal played well. You are allowed to congratulate other teams than who you support

Ok ill be 100% honest, before the subs in the 75th minute I think? They were terrible and I don't know how anyone could say otherwise, they couldn't keep the ball for more than 5 seconds and bayern absolutely dominated them and were unlucky not to score a couple.

Arsenal had one shot up Until around the 82nd minute, 1 shot when you need goals and you say they played well??????

bayern were obviously relaxing tonight and rightly so and still they made arsenal look dire.

in arsenals defence though the ref was really poor and their defenders and keeper played really well

Nowhere have I said that Bayern are a bad team. But the second they play a top team I feel we'll see them get dumped out.

I feel that over two legs Dortmund will beat them

Exactly! Who do you reckon would have won, if both teams were playing 'on their day'?

Irrelevant, Rob. Bayern are still a better team than Dortmund. They may not be as good as Barca but they're still a team capable of winning the tournament, which is what everyone is saying.

I didn't think either team played well, personally.

Bayern completely dominated without looking anything special. Fair play to Arsenal for taking their chances, however, they didn't really create that much or play that well - they defended pretty well though, which is pretty un-Arsenal like.

For a CL quarter final it was one of the worst games I've seen for a while in terms of quality. Both teams were pretty average on the night.

Also, Bayern knocked Madrid out last year and most of the 'bottling' done in the final was by Mario Gomez.

***************************

Wow... dumbest comment. So Bayern who prioritised the league I am guessing are taking the CL unseriously now thats why they can let arsenal get a 2-0 win or am I missing something in this stupid argument of yours?

The best team moved through to the next round, end of story. Bayern is as good as any team in the champions league and on form certainly better than dortmund which you seem to be making escuses for.

So Robben didn't miss a penalty in extra time?

"Theyre only so far ahead in their league because Dortmund prioritized the cl."

Sorry, but that is wrong. Bayern have been excellent in the league, far far better than Dortmund this year. Dortmund did not prioritise the CL, they simply didn't play very well for periods of time. They are capable on their day of being brilliant, but that day comes much more rarely for Dortmund this season than for Bayern.

Rob is clearly on the wum here.

To say they have no chance against the better teams and will go out is the obvious part of it for me.

I'm presuming the better teams are Barca, Dortmund, Real and maybe Juve?

In the last two seasons they've beaten two of those teams and haven't played the others in years, so it's hard to judge, but a team of Bayern's quality would have a chance against them as well.

Nowadays every time a top European club doesn't win a game they become overrated.

This season I've heard this said about Juve, United, Real, Barca, Dortmund and Bayern.

Fine lines in European football, a team can be a top class side and not win the trophy, doesn't mean they aren't a top side.

Sorry mate but I've read article after article on football websites that back that theory up. Hell, I used to live in Munich and friends I have there say it's common knowledge there that Dortmund have prioritized the cl because their squad isn't big enough to maintain a two pronged campaign.

---------
Firstly, I said 'most'. Secondly, Robben wouldn't have had to take the penalty if Gomez put away one or more of several of the type of chances he had been scoring all season.

posted on 13/3/13

Well, they are wrong Rob. I've watched most of their games this year myself and gone to a couple. The first time anyone even mentioned that in Germany was when they were too far behind to mount any sort of challenge in the bundesliga and everyone knew it was b0llocks. They are still second, they did not at any point make any kind of decision to prioritise anything, just think how ridiculously absurd that idea is.

posted on 13/3/13

Isn't the fact Bayern have such a great squad that allows them to mount a three pronged attack what makes them such a great team?

I know this is certainly the case with every other team in football.

Give me more credit mate. I say they're overrated in the sense that I don't think they're as good as the likes of Real and barca and to win the club they'll have to probably beat one or both of them.

I know they got past Real last year butanyone who saw them in the second leg would have seen how lucky they were that Real had an off day.

it's crazy how defensive people are on here about certain teams. and how they don't get the main point. i said they were overrated.not that they were a bad team.

i put them in the second rung of european teams with juventus and ac milan.

the way bayern have been talked of is that they are the equal of barca and Real.

you summed up my point well. you said they were a 'great' team. all I'm saying is that they've done nothing to show that they are a great team .they're getting all the plaudits before they've earnt them.

the people who reckon they're a better side than real or barca. and there are people on here who think that.

posted on 13/3/13

I know what you are saying but I don't see how they can not be considered up there with the likes of Barca, and certainly Real, based on what they've done this season and last.

Real haven't been in the CL final for about ten years, Bayern have been in two of the last three and beat Real last season. So it's obvious why many consider them among the top teams in Europe.

United, Real, Bayern and Barca are teams that have proven themselves to a certain extent over the last few years.

Dortmund and Juve are not in that bracket yet as they've proven nothing on the European stage - this may change this season.

posted on 13/3/13

Doesn't getting to two finals in three years make you a great team in itself? I would think it would considering how difficult it is to actually do that...
