Dont see Skinheads anymore, 14 of us used to go to Tottenham in all our gear, braces do martins crombi jacket etc, remember having the old bill take laces out of boots and mate not being allowed in as he had steel toecaps

The casual look was fantastic but it made me laugh that these firms would dress up in hundreds of pounds worth of clothes and go looking for a rumble

used to have to go shopping in groups in london so you didnt get robbed of your clothes as you left the shops ...

Worst look ever has to be the shell suit, WTF was that all about

Yeah I remember, do you know Danny Harkins also?

I had a good drink one time in the late Seventies with one of your well-known faces at Spurs, Steve Hawkins and we got on like a house on fire. He knew a lot of the naughty boys that I used to go to football with and I knew quite a few of his firm. I have to say that despite our differences in our teams he really was a top fella, but then you've probably heard of him down at the Lane and knew that already anyway.

I've been having a look around and there's quite a few shop/websites knocking out the retro garbs now, some as they were back in the day , some with a 20th C twist .<OK>.....I feel like I'm pre match shopping for myself again..........Great feeling,

CSS 1969,I've not met him myself but he is well known at spurs.i used to spend a few Saturday nights at a place called the Walton hop with Jason m and the casual look was in full flow then.i still laugh with a mate when 1 of the bouncers who weren't the most clued up said to 1 of his mates"you've got to watch this lot in the pungle jumpers

I hate to sound old 'ish but fashion and football were symbiotic as recent as the 90's. You went to the match with your mates and what you wore was tribalistic.

He looked just like Jean-Jacques Burnel out of the Stranglers at the time (but didn't we all ), but I heard later that he was well into the casual scene.

Harkins was known as Eccles. Babsy is someone that I have drunk with on many occasions and also runs his own company near where I work. A top-top fella.

That walk from WHL to seven sisters was always a bit hairy. Doesn't it run alongside the broad water farm estate?

Chelsea since summer;

What a lovely thread you've written there. I'm with you on all points and reading your thoughts brought back some memories, I can tell you!

Late 70's, going to the games, I was into the Rude Boy and the whole ska culture. This obviously was reflected with my gear i.e crombie with the top out-side pocket pulled up, two-tone stay press ankle high trousers and as you entioned - the obligatory Fred Perry in gold and black.

Depending if it was raining or not - white or red socks (Rudies can't walk the street with dirty white socks) to complement their brogues or penny loafer shoes!

Don't think that look would work down at OT now though!
