I agree, all I'm saying is it didn't take much work to write Family Guy and with so many pop-culture references, the storylines become irrelevant and thus write themselves.
When you talk to people about TV shows you usually go "what about the episode when..." with Family Guy most people forget the plot and just remember the gags. I like Family Guy but all I'm saying is it would not be difficult to write.
I've never seen Game of Thrones, doesn't seem like my kind of thing!

Perhaps I wasn't being clear enough. I meant that, while the books apparently make a conscious effort away from the good verses evil fantasy genre, the underlying paradigm that makes such a genre possible (good and evil characters) is still very much present.
It isn't a fantasy epic of good versus evil, more a incoherent rambling about how good and evil characters interact in given situations. The only think that they have taken out is the classic plot line, everything else seems to be at a constant with the genre.
Wow, didn’t know that although come to think of it I haven’t heard much since the first season. I loved the title music ‘Splitting the Atom’ by Massive Attack, awesome song from a really good album.
I've had people actually commit suicide in front of me when i've told them i've never seen Game of Thrones.
Dot, it's as if we're freaks when we all know who the true freaks are!!!
Henrik – Re Family Guy being easy to write. You say that but I’m not so sure, they set up a joke and you think the punch line is obvious and you could write it but to lay themselves on a plate isn’t easy, the skill is in the build up. Really not as easy as it sounds when you’re sitting there trying to come up with stuff.
That said in the U.S it is more common for large teams of writers so at least they can bounce off each other, the downside can be a less personal script.
I suppose those guy must get so tuned in to writing and making notes day to day that they can use as material much in the way a stand up comic would.
The Wire is incredible. Some brilliant actors. It's meant to be viewed as you read a novel - each episode being a chapter etc etc.
It may take 10 chapters to get really into a novel, and this is the same. I watched a few episodes of the first season and gave up, came back a year later and couldn't stop watching.
Boardwalk Empire and The Sopranos are brilliant too.
My housemates will watch Big Bang/HIMYM incessantly. I have no idea why.

From what I know of Game of Thrones its just about waiting for 'winter to come' but it never does.
I know people who have read the books and have hated it because of there is no cohesive connections between the sub plots and the actual main plot. Just seems to go along loads of different tangents to no real point.
HIMYMis actually the most over rated show out there how could I forget.
I've only seen a couple of episodes of each of The Wire and The Sopranos. I'm too scared (busy) to get into them because when i got into Breaking Bad i just became a hermit.

I've never watched it, I really don't like sci-fi or fantasy. Not my type of thing.
Game of Thrones: I've read the books and watch the tv show and i like both but the books have so much depth in them that it would be hard to scratch the surface of that even with a long tv show. Game of Thrones does the Spartacus trick as well of throwing in just enough séx and violence to get viewers hooked
Cant believe there are people who thought Breaking Bad was overrated

I have watched Breaking Bad until season 2 and it wasn't anything special. Not bad just not as mindblowing as people keep saying. Maybe it gets better in later seasons I don't know.
Watch breaking bad season 4, absolutely amazing. Season 5 even better. Every season it got better.

If someone dropped spoilers for those 2 episodes, trust you would kill em! They are mindblowing!

I find there is so much more depth to the show than just a simple good Vs evil plot.
