Lion, jovetic is quality, if anything I don't think he's talked about enough
......................
Well hopefully levy and AVB rate him and make the move ASAP. Napoli will need to replace cavani soon and I'd reckon jovetic would be the one they've got lined up as a potential replacement seeing as internacional are playing hardball with them for Damiao and rejected their £15.5m bid

Edin,

In a nutshell right there

Err, maybe we won't be able to spend big BECAUSE we have already spent 17m on Paulinho. Have a think about it"

errr, well maybe if that 17million was spent on a position we are in desperate need of in terms of a striker of some sort, i wouldn't be sitting here having this debate with you. Like i said before, more than happy with the Paulinho signing but if we have blown our budget on just him then clearly something is not right at Spurs if no one can see what position we are in desperate need of......for the past 4 years

In all honesty I think don expects too much from Levy, and Chronic backs up Levy too much.

--------

actually i am very fair when it comes to levy... i criticised him heavily when he messed up the berba deal and stuff like that.. that was before i was on 606 or anything like that though.

even now when levy needs to be criticised then i criticise... i expressed disappointment in him for not addressing the striker situation years ago..... but that doesnt mean that we should all out slate him considering the strides we have made under him.

those who do just come across as spoilt brats, ungrateful for the work he has done for us in all areas.

"1. how much do we have?"

Have you not worked it out yet ??

My company account reading skills are not good enough to work out how much cash (within 10m) is actually available to spend.

Paulinho may have similarly been bought due to "desperate need" (this is the only reason I can think he was bought when NEW STRIKER has always been top priority) .

Just because we do not agree with 100% of what our chairman does, does not mean we are spoilt or ungrateful.

i am not the one slating levy for not recklessly spending... i asked if don knows how much we have to spend. i doubt he does. he is just assuming things.

we might have loads, we might have not very much, we might be relying on player sales to top up our funds. who knows?

my point is that without knowing, how can don come out and say that just because we spent 17m on paulinho, we obviously have the funds to blow 25m on benteke, and he will no doubt want one or two other people to be brought in too..

didnt say that.

cant be bothered to debate if you are going to twist my words or take them out of context...

i clearly said those who slate him, not those who dont agree with him 100%. i dont agree with levy 100%. infact i am yet to know of a person that i do agree with 100%, or probably even 90%

chronic, you are missing my point.....i mean we had 17million that was spent on Paulinho so clearly we have that sort of money available. Why wasen't that money spent on a striker? A position we have been in desperate need of for 4 years now. Paulinho is a great signing but i still would of rather had a striker of quality signed before any other position, this was our weakness last season because we had to rely so heavily on Bale.

1. I am stating that of all the people here who could try and work out how much cash is potentially available to spend, the one who is least likely to absolutely eff up the sums is you, Chronic.

2. And if you did, it would kill this particular debate stone dead.

I know you 100% agree with the above.

Chronic,

Actually "moving the goal posts" was the wrong saying, but dont try to deflect your recent angry ranting all over the boards onto me, just because i have previously argued a particular viewpoint on a totally different debate.

If we fail to sign another striker, or have limited funds, then you'd have to look at AVB really. He must be suggesting what positions need filling in the squad, and be aware of the budget. He is obviously happy to spend a big chunk of it on Paulinho.

For reasons that may be totally justified.

While it's quite clear levy is hands-on when it comes to transfers I doubt he says "AVB, I think we need a midfielder, lets find one", so I'd like to think AVB said he wanted a midfielder hence why the money was spent

Bale is a striker. He is certainly our most potent goal threat anyway.

Throw in Ade, Defoe and Dempsey and we are not thin on the ground in that area, although improvement is possible.

Paulinho should add goals from Midfield. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't sign a striker, on the assumption none of the above leave.
