Sad, yes. It's sad that a grown man has no self control over himself.
Gazza is a lost cause, he's had a million hand outs and helping hands from family, friends, ex and current footballers all looking to get him back on the right path and he just doesn't care at the end of the day. To be honest he should be either locked up for good until he's totally fixed if it's even possible or just let him carry on. To be honest Gazza's turmoil is boring now because he's thrown back the kindness of other people too many times to even care about him anymore.
What a Waste.
Lets all give the guy a break.he has severe mental problems and probably needs sectioning for his own welfare, sad to see anyone in that state down to alcohol dependency.
People have helped him but he's still has no self control. Don't see why he should get special treatment really. Lock him up would be good.
Your right groovy, he definitely needs sectioning for his own mental state. Unfortunately all these 'friends' that come out the woodwork and offer handouts and charity would rather play the good Samaritan in the media instead of using common sense. Handouts don't work. Rehab has failed many times. Section him before it's too late. I can't even feel sorry for the bloke anymore to be honest.
The guy is a waste of space, and deserves no sympathy. He's shown himself to be a very weak-willed individual.
The amount of time, effort, money and resources that have been invested in him have not reaped any sort of reward. The only person that can help Paul Gascoigne now, is Paul Gascoigne. There are people that would give anything for the help that he has received, but he just throws it back in people's faces.
We cant give up on him, he clearly needs help and has an extremely fragile mentality
nice of the passers by to grab a quick snap before getting help for him....
Wow, that isn't very good! Very sad.

Stop giving him the media space and admit him somewhere he will be sectioned and locked away for his own good. As already mentioned, give him a year cold turkey he will back to normal.
It actually crushes me to see someone suffer so much.

i've lost count of how many times this bumbling geordie buffoon has fallen off the wagon, then come out in the media claiming he's "a changed man" - within weeks he's fallen off the wagon again and making the same "changed man" promises.
people talk about sectioning him or locking him up - but why should the taxpayer foot the bill for saving a weak-willed multi-millionaire from himself? screw him.

Hard to see a way out for this guy unless his family do section him
To see such an iconic footballer to England fans in particular suffer so badly with this terrible disease is really so depressing
What I don't get is how his body is coping with such large quantities. If I have 5 or 6 pints at the weekend or say a bottle of wine and a couple of voddies, I'm fit fit for chit and pretty well gone (and then I stupidily come on JA606)
How is he managing to drink 2 Litres of Vodka and 6 bottles of wine without collapsing unconcious with a quarter of that?
Excuse me, I only assume. I do not drink so have no experience of any sort.
time is ticking for gazza. sad. what a waste
its not a disease thats disrespect to any body who suffers with any real illness. he wants to drink to wash away his problems. i have sympathy but please its not a disease

Of course it is a disease
Alcoholism is dreadful
You don't think he's drinking himself to death because he doesn't have any willpower do you?
because it's a human being who needs help and britons are good people?
============
he's been given help - more help than he deserves. he chose to drink himself near enough to death without ever appreciating the effort from those who tried to set him right.
as for the 'britons are good people' thing... if he were some nobody instead of a former footballer, nobody would care. if he were any other race or nationality, nobody would care either.
what's this disease. because i never drunk alcohol in my life. so will i wake up tomorrow and be an alcoholic
Very sad ........
But the honest truth is that no matter how many people try to help there is only one person who can help him ...... and that person is himself
