Lionel I think you're bringing in more than 140m though. Think you were over the 200m mark

Hector, maybe ricky was exaggerating but Bale would certainly make us a lot of money staying ie the Bale brand now and most importantly we have a much bigger chance of top 4 with bale in the club than we do without. Qualifying for the Cl next season will give us a lot of money for that alone. For me it's keep Bale this summer at all costs.

40m behind the revenues of the worst of the Sky 4.
And 90m behind the team who finished 1 pt ahead of us on 3rd.

Hector is not in a position to WUM, he supports that mickey mouse team Celtic, that play in a mickey mouse park league .

It says on there, you made 178m for 2011/2012 season.

Mr C :

AFAIK, 2010/11 was in the 160s (highest to date) , and 2011/12 was in the 140s.

the more time goes on the more i think spurs fans are living in cloud cukoo land.

you have to remember that while bale is a huge asset, he does not guarantee a return... thats the problem with footballers, its hard to value them because you dont know what output they will give. for all we know bale will have a poor season if his head has been turned, or will have an injury blighted career from here on in.

this alone is the reason why every footballer on this earth has a price that the current club would accept. this is true for bale, its definately true for c. ronaldo, and its true for messi also.

there is not a player on this earth, and never will be one, who is not for sale at any price.

the problem with everyone banging on about how much bale is worth in the future commercially is that none of us actually have any idea about how much revenue he would bring in - its a forecast, and therefore will almost certainly not be accurate.

if bale has a poor season his stock will diminish. that is why guaranteed money now is better than possible money in the future. the fact that he will probably give us future commercial revenue streams just means that the current price will be a bit higher as the value of the player to us will work in some of these future revenue streams.

good post chronic.

Rdbd - you were turning over 140m a few years back. I'm sure you're hovering closer to 170m-180m now

Chronic, say Real Madrid bid 80 million and Levy rejects which is possible. Would you be disappointed with this?

to clarify, i dont want us to sell bale, BUT if we were offered anything a bid with a value of up towards 90m then we would be an absolute joke to turn that down. it wouldnt make sense on or off the pitch to be honest.

no. i would be FOR levy rejecting that bid. in my opinion the only acceptable bid for Bale would be a world record transfer fee value.

Even if we clear deadwood and get replacements, we aren't going to spend close to 90m on players so accelerating development on new WHL would be great.

the thing is that, its very hard to do, but we have to look at this without spurs tinted glasses on.

bale is a sensational player - possibly the best in the league, but there were 4 teams that came above us last season, and none of them had bale playing for them.

its all about the strength of the team. if selling bale meant we could afford a top striker (e.g soldado), a talented creative mid (e.g eriksen/pjanic), a fantastic winger (e.g nani), and a very good left back (e.g coentrao), then how can we possibly say that that is a bad deal?

posted on 28/7/13

Revenue blah blah.. no way could we replace him, even if we were to spend the majority of the fee.

" there is not a player on this earth, and never will be one, who is not for sale at any price"

Barcelona allegedly accepted a fee (300m?) for Messi from Russia, he was never going to go so he's effectively not for sale at any price.

If Levy and AVB agree that he is vital and irreplaceable then he is, in effect at least, not for sale at any price.

There's always the technicality, the chance that Real will pay for the new stadium and give us players, but that's for Marca to dream up, it's not going to happen.

so he was for sale.. barca accepted the fee.

the fact that messi didnt want to go there/didnt agree personal terms, is a totally separate issue.

infact you pretty much made my point for me.

No, you just completely missed mine.

The point is just because you have the money to buy something doesn't mean you can.

Bale is not for sale. He's happy. To force the club and player's hand would take a bid that's not going to happen. IMO.

when people say this it makes me question if they understand football.

obviously we couldnt get a player like for like as good as him, but we would strengthen the TEAM. like i said, there were 4 teams that finished above us last season, and none of them had Bale. this once again proves that the best team doesnt have to have the best players.

now i dont want to sell Bale, but any sensible football fan out there understands that there is a point where you to actually act sensibly. dont forget that as chairman, levy is a legally a steward of the company that is tottenham hotspur limited or whatever its called, and therefore has a duty to act properly - he cant just act off pride, or some personal battle he has with perez for example

this is the real world not football manager.... if the bid is high enough, the offer should be accepted ESPECIALLY if bale wants to move

posted on 28/7/13

Real have not got a pot to piiiiiissss in. It would be hilarious though to see Levy say to them, he`s yours for £100 million. Madrid would be cacking in their pants.
