Xabi off, probably the 45 minutes I have seen from him.

Costa with Torres syndrome there. No confidence in this Spain team.

It's Torres time.

Bad luck fellas.

Could give Spain the shake up needed to move forward. They'll be back as one of the favourites for the Euros I'm sure.

incredible how time affects people..those same players that have won everything were totally bereft of confidence in both matches after conceding a goal

end of 2 truly great teams....based on a common set of players and footballing beliefs

spain have relied on the core of that group for so long, i'm quite unsure what the new spain will look like in the coming years

No luck about it really. It has been coming.

Anyhow, i have to commend Spain for the past six years. A team that brought me joy, respect and irritation in equal measure. One of the greatest teams of all time.

I didn't mean it literally, TRC.

Peks, yeah end of an era for this Spain side.

It's going to be interesting to see how they go about rebuilding. They have the talent to become a force again - I still think Spain have the best squad in the tournament despite the crap they've served up in the group stages.

Interesting times ahead for Spain.

should i ban xiu from the thread

i getting close to doing it

True, DTKF.

I roll my eyes when people say this squad is an ageing one. Who? Xavi, Casillas and Alonso are the only oldies.

Spain has a nice blend of youth and experience. Bar the defence, their squad is choc-a-bloc with talent.

Yes, maybe I should be banned as I think the Spanish are asshóles - forats del cul!

TRC

That defence is the biggest problem in Spain reaching the summit of international football again, in my opinion.

A few tactical tweaks and personnel changes and the midfield and attack could be transformed but their back four will still be crap.

Disappointed to see Spain go out like this but it has been coming.

The warning signs were clear.
Many mocked me for saying Del Bosque should be ruthless like Sir Alex & let go of the old guard & build a new team.

I hope Diego Costa does not regret choosing Spain over Brazil.
The Spain formation does not suit Costa at all.

The Barca players (bar Iniesta) looked completely bereft of confidence & form.
The Real M players are still trying to get over the hangover of winning the (10th) CL.

i agree with that entirely coolinter

i saw costa's first match for spain in a friendly, and knew he would never fit into spain's playing style

Costa reminds me of Ibrahimovic in Barca team

Complete mismatch especially when it comes to formation.

It'll be interesting to see if Del Bosque stays on or not.

or maybe its time for Rafael Benitez.

This had been a long time coming. No suprises, just a bit disappointing knowing that we could've assembled a team to challenge for this tournament.

In a way I'm relieved for us to be out of our misery this early. Can now settle down to enjoy the rest of the World Cup.

Both Brazil and Spain would probably better off if Costa opted for Brazil.
