Marca say Madrid and Bayern have agreed a €25M fee for Kroos, deal to be officially announced after the World Cup.

That picture is amazing.

€25m is a well good deal. If it happens I guarantee you that there will be a meltdown on our board saying why didn't we get him we could have offered £40m

posted on 3/7/14

Hmm, good deal. Though i like Kroos, i wasn't particularly bothered we did not go in for him as say someone like Thiago. As United do not really need him.

I wonder where Kroos will play at RM though.

People are moaning about it but don't seem to realise that Kroos plays the same position as Rooney (should be Mata) and that as a midfielder, bar his brilliance on the ball, doesn't offer us what this midfield actually needs.

Herrera, while also playing attacking midfield a lot, has the physical and defensive attributes we need, that Kroos doesn't, even if his technical attributes aren't as good.

But what will be funny about the whole reaction is that people will think we should be competing with Real Madrid for his signature.

Indeed DTKF. For whatever reason, we are not Real/Barca, we cannot continue to splash the cash on players we do not need.

I can honestly say i am not remotely bothered we did not go for KROOS.

We need a player like Vidal more than we need Kroos.

I'm sure he'd be a brilliant cm but it wouldn't remedy the lack of pace and mobility in the side.

Will be interesting to see how Real use him. Surely they'll need a monster of a cm to play alongside Modric to make up for the loss of Di Maria's work rate?

I'm excited to see what Atleti do this window.

DTKF, are RM mad enough to get rid of Di Maria? For my money, Kroos is not better than Kroos. In fact, the Argentine is better.

They'd probably bench him.

TRC, am I losing my mind or is Winston just talking nonsense?

posted on 3/7/14

I am just laughing at your exchanges in that thread. Winston is a regular output of repeated garbage. I usually try and pull his e-pants down below his knees.

Childish, i know. But Winston seems a tad special.

I thought as much. I've never really spoken to him but have got that impression from when I have and what I've read.

The article where he couldn't understand why an article about Suarez on the Liverpool board would ruffle a few feathers was a good one.

Perhaps, but the reality is that most of the time Di María played out of position and even though it went well, it could be considered to have been a stop-gap.

If media gossip is correct, Madrid want €50M for Di María - that's double what he cost and double what we'll be paying for Kroos. You can argue whether or not it's the right move, but you can see the sense behind it. Tbh, I'm not too worried about losing Di María as a CM/AM, I'm more worried about losing him as a winger, but again, you can see the logic in wanting to cash in on a player who would at best be a sub in his natural position.

posted on 3/7/14

ioag, yeah that's true. In terms of losing him as a winger it gives greater opportunities to Jese, which softens the blow because he has the potential to be as good as Di Maria, albeit different players.

posted on 3/7/14

Interesting points, IOAG. Little to quibble with there except that even Di Maria as a winger will need replacing - going by how RM playing style- and it will cost silly money to procure - if media gossip is to believed- the likes of Hazard et al.

And i also struggle to see the logic in getting rid of a player who has proven pivotal to Real Madrid's aspirations for several seasons now just because a new toy is available.

From where i am standing, i don't see any sense at all in getting rid of Angel.

posted on 3/7/14

TRC, I agree with that also. But like I said, Jese does change things slightly.

I think RM could do with Vidal more than Kroos.

They need more energy in that midfield, not creative players.

posted on 3/7/14

I understand your point, but I'm firmly on the fence on this one. Selling our main creative outlet in Ozil was hard to understand last season other than for financial reasons, but it didn't really seem to hurt us that much in the end.

Cos Ozil is sheit

Finished second with Ozil then finished third without him.
