Part of me doesn't want Sneijder

I do not think we need him, we have Anderson, Cleverly, Fletcher and Carrick. That's good enough for me.

I don't think he's coming, and I'm not really fussed either way. I think we'll do alright without.

posted on 9/8/11

I don't really see the need, i would rather just keep Gibson incase of an midfield injury crisis

I'm happy with our squad tbh. Would love Sneijder but not a massive need judging by the way we played on Sunday

It was the manner of the performance against probably the second best team in the league that had me thinking we have a fine squad now filled with hungry younsters

I've been saying for a while now that SAF has steadily built a team with mostly youth and I think in a year or twos time our team is going to be seriously top notch without the need to add more players

I'm sorry but you're all telling porkies. We'd all love to see him in a United shirt and anybody who thinks we don't need him on the basis on one good second half game from Cleverly is certainly deluded

Would like him to come.

Can't see Anderson and Cleverly performing consistently throughout the season.

lol@keeping Gibson for back up.

We have fantastic depth:
Giggs, Ando, Cleverly, Fletcher and Carrick with Park and Young capable of filling in. Oh yeh and Gibson in emergences.

Maybe could do with a bit more quality and it would be amazing if he signed buy i'm perfectly happy for us to give our current crop a chance before spilling out £35mil.

Yes, none of us had access to any of his games for Wigan last season, where he was a constant threat.

No one can say if he will hit the ground running at the highest level, but we are not all just basing our opinion on one game. Some of us have been following this lad's progress for some time now.

This is the same midfield we had last year bar Scholes which everyone was saying is our weakest area and must be improved, it hasn't and all of a sudden everyone is happy with it...I don't get it.

No Guarantees for Sneijder to fit in straight away and score 20 goals and get a gazillion assists either. He might take a while to settle.

Im not against getting Sneijder, but if we didn't i wouldn't be bothered as i think we've already got enough quality and im for giving the youngsters a chance

I've never been in the Sneijder camp and truth be told I would prefer we signed a defensive midfielder in the mould of Sandro at spurs.

To me Sneijder falls into the category, nice to have but not essential.

It's time for the younger players to step up. They should be given a chance and not have their development hampered. If they can't do it this season, then we can purchase replacements.

With Ando, Fletch, Carrick and Cleverly, we'll be fine

totally agree. Cleverly and Anderson are both really young and for them to play along side someone like sneijder will only benefit them. In the short and long term it will be great for us

It's not just that we have other good attacking midfielders at the club that i'm unsure. It comes down as well to how proud I am of Manchester United. Our traditions and history of producing great players and always having a real home grown core in all of our most successful teams. Since the days of Charlton and Best, world class talent, developed in Manchester Uniteds youth teams, or brought in at a young age from other clubs, has been moulded in to some of the best sides in footballing history. We're not a Real Madrid, who's history is in recruting the best players at the time for fees obscene.

We are the best team in Britain, 2nd in the world, and the best team in the world are as good as they are because they put their faith in youth and invest massively in player development. I would be ecstatic if Sneijder does join, as would everybody, And a big purchase when needed every now and then is required. But right now, buying Sneijder would block two good young players progress, go against our traditions of giving young players a chance to become greats, and would cost money that I believe could be spent much more wisely (expanding the stadium, investing in player we'll NEED when the time comes, ect.)

Also, right now we have what can only be described as perfect squad harmony. No one megastar taking all the limelight. Manchester United is the star of the show, and an ego, reputation and wage packet to the tune of Sneijder would only hinder this. (not saying Sneijder has a big ego, just that a player like that coming in can have negative effects, and no one that good will take being dropped for the first time well, so problems will come from it).

They're not that young, Cleverly 22 and Anderson 23.
Perfect time for them to get waayyy more game time. Busquets is only 23? Barcelona have some young players... Fabregas is 23 too!

Has Nasri finished his medical?

Another great story you broke

Well the only thing that is a negative about getting sneijder is that he is 27 already. However, this is the optimum age, and i would love to see him in our team.

I would also be happy if we were making a deal for Gotze, who is 19 and has a lot of potential......

Not another person digging up old news ! countless times i've seen people say this.

Sneijder deal is very much on

I too don't think Sneijder will be the difference between winning and loosing against Barca, it is all to do with the DM and a little luck. Real madrid went toe to toe with Barca 4 times in two weeks and kept them to a draw in the league and won the Cup because of Pepe in DM. In the CL Real were in it until Pepe was sent off and Barca dominated; in the second leg Diarra wasn't up to scratch.

So I agree with OP we can challenge on all fronts without him, and if we want to beat Barca bring in a top class DM.

Very sensible post.

Barca is the team we all measure ourselves against but why are we so concerned about a team we would play 2ce at most in a season.

I'm more concerned about the other 19 teams we've got to deal with in our league. We could actually win the champions league without playing Barca. Let's give our kids a chance, expose them to competitive football constantly and we will reap the dividends.

Cheers

I know it's only talksport but they just said within last hour that Sneijder deal for Utd is "done"

posted on 9/8/11

John Heitinga just tweeted

"Sneijder didn't come to Uk today. The question is.... when will he come now "

posted on 9/8/11

talksport means nothing.

Neither does your word, given your history Positivety.

No united fan will be unhappy if Wesley Sneijder is bought. The point is though, that there's no reason to be unhappy if he's not.

And absolutely NO ONE will give you credit for predicting the transfer, so please, for the sake of not making 1 in 3 threads on our board diseased with your recycled "from a source" bull, just stop it now.

posted on 9/8/11

I don't want credit so just F### off !! how many times do i need to repeat this ?????????????????

I am TALKING about Utd but you bunch of cry babies can't seen to engage in that. You just go for insults.

Out of interest how old are you lot ? you act like 15 year olds.
