When you finish above Spurs in the here and now, then come back and start boasting, until then your team has been pretty well owned by Spurs in the prem in the past 3 or 4 years, which is all that matters now, not what happened in the 1980s.
In reality it's only a big 3
Only the 2 manchester clubs and Chelsea have won the title and had a realistic chance of winning it.

FFS your teamm canot even finish above Everton, and your coming on giving it large. Only a scouser could be that stupid.

In the words of Bill Shankly "If you are first, you're first. If you're second you're nothing".
===========================================
So no difference between 2nd and 17th?
I wonder how most fans would feel about that?
==========================================
At the end of the day you either win the league or you don't. Sure its better to finish 2nd rather than 17th. But theres no trophy for 2nd and theres no trophy for 17th.
You either win something or you dont.

If you only want to consider the present then Liverpool are currently ahead of Spurs
Another deluded scouser who thinks the league ends in October. Recent history suggests you will once again finish behind Everton, and a long way behind Spurs. Come back in May you mug when the season ends.

By that logic Shandy, do you concede that Spurs have been owned by Chelsea for a while now as you have finished below us all bar once in ( and I will keep the period short ten years). If you can't do that your logic is a proven failure.

ent history means you will fail to qualify for the CL again, so you might as well give up now.
Sandy. You're not good at this, you think you are, but trust me you're a rank amateur. Every time you're proved wrong (which is EVERY time) you move the goalposts and try again. Yet whichever way you look at it, Liverpool are better than Spurs. Surely you can acknowledge that success is winning things, not just finishing 4/5th..... And not since 1960 have you bettered us in that respect....
'At the end of the day you either win the league or you don't. Sure its better to finish 2nd rather than 17th. But theres no trophy for 2nd and theres no trophy for 17th.'
Except that for finishing 2nd you get a lucrative CL spot and better TV deals for the following season. Finishing 17th means you get to keep all your better players and don't face bankruptcy.
Times have changed since Shankley's era.

There is a top 3 and Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs are on a par. Everton, Swansea and Southampton aren't far off.

So CL football and more money automatically equals trophies???
Theres no question it helps, but its not the be all and end all.
I re-iterate. Either you win something or you dont. Why some fans think 4th etc equals succes I really don't know. Trophies = success. Always have, and always will.
Here is a table of the points accumulated over the last 4 seasons plus first 7 games of this season.
Top 7 have a 45 point gap to the 8th best team in that period.Everton are only 4 points behind Liverpool which funnily enough is the points gap between us so far this season.
Liverpool supporters always give it large that they are far superior to us and they are top 4 contenders, but the previous 4 seasons suggest Everton have as much chance as Liverpool to finish top 4 and with a minus £12million spend you can argue that we have strengthened our first team more than Liverpool who had a £18 million net spend to go with the previous seasons £54 million nett spend to go with the previous seasons £51 million net spend

they've never really been proper title chasers since 2004ish and win squadouche

Is that a joke ?
@ Tiddles: I was alluding more to the financial benefits, which seem to be the main goal these days. Having a payout for the shareholders seems to be just as important as a trophy these days.
Also, how many domestic trophies have been won by teams outside of the CL regulars over the last 10 seasons? More cash = bigger squad = more capable of competing for a cup and staying competitive in the league. How many teams from lower in the table have won a cup (or reached the final), but then also been, or have been relegated in the same season?
Fair enough Murdoch, but there have been a few who have won trophies without CL football. Swansea and Wigan won the domestic trophies last season for example.
I get what your saying but I still believe that either your a winner, or your not. Anything else is simply glorifying participation IMO.
But thats just my opinion.
For 'also' read almost...
The modern fan wants silverware but starve them of that and they'll find success in other forms
Look at Arsenal - they now boast stuff that only non-executives would celebrate
Liverpool supporters were boasting about the advertising/commercial deals their new American owners have secured Metro .so what difference are Liverpool supporters to Arsenal supporters in your eyes then?
Liverpool fans are deluded as usual, Everton finished above them in the past two years.

Yes I will give you the fact that Liverpool did win the title in the 1890s, but Spurs did win the cup in the early 1900s. But no real clear winner.

Is their now a 'big 7' in the PL?
