"Dam it Melton, why do you have to be from the wrong side of the fence?! I live in northern Ireland and it's pretty much all United, Liverpool and to some extent arsenal in terms of support. But I know a few City fans over here and they're good mates. People like them and you make it a little bit harder to hate City! Stop making sense!!!"
I'm not really one for disliking other clubs steve, particularly United. A strong City and a strong United is purely a good thing for me
@heisenberg
Did I say anything about Moyes? No, they are just 2 links I got quickly off Google, here is one from the guardian
http://www.theguardian.com/news/datablog/2013/apr/18/premier-league-club-accounts-debt
I assume you've heard of the Guardian?
It's not an exact science but there is a strong link between wages spent and league position Choose not to believe it if you like but it's true, see the figures for yourself.
What does me being a Liverpool supporter have asnything to do with the point I'm making? What exactly am I bitter about? And please don't say anything about Moyes finishing above Liverpool with everton, he did it 3 times in 11 years, never won a game at Anfield and never won a domestic cup despite his "over acheivement" at Everton.
He's a good manager and I have no problem with him or really with united
Mourinho was hired by Real Madrid because he saved them from the ultimate humiliation of the whole world watching barca lift the champs league trophy at the bernabeu.
His brief was no doubt to overhaul barca and end their dominance of la liga and win la decima - he dd neither.
Mourinho at Madrid = fail.
Of course you would say he failed at Madrid. You openly hate on mourinho and Madrid so you're hardly gna give an objective opinion of things.

the original point SLM made is flawed, looking at just wages spent and transfer spend. not net spend.
however even if he did manage to pull some numbers out from the prime minister himself, it would not convince me that moyes was a poor manager.
this guy is a cretin and no one should be supporting him as his only goal is to troll. he dissapears or avoids comments he knows he cannot answer.
Yeah a lot of Mancunians seem to have that point of view. Being from Manchester i guess it's a source of pride, plus families can be split red and blue, which is likely to make the rivalry more "banter" a little bit and less negative, for want of a better word. It's a little different over here where you have basically Liverpool, Leeds and City in that order in terms of dislike. It's almost just passed down through generations.
Who would have ever thought that when you wanted 2 strong teams in Manchester, it would be United letting you down?! I would laugh if I wasn't crying uncontrollably right now!!!
also - what about the expensive squad he already had. the 80m ronaldo?
-----------------------------
I am so glad you said this because the same applies to Moyes. He took over a title winning squad with Rooney/RVP etc and you're failing miserably. What's your excuse for that?

That is exactly my situation, I went to both up to I was 12.
United are still only 5 points off fourth, a lot of football to be played. Your team has too much quality for this to be anything but a blip for me (and one that really isn't that surprising given the change in manager and, for me, overachievement by the squad and manager last year).

we are 8 games in to a season and have played liverpool, chelsea, man city, swansea away, a good west brom team and a really good southampton team.
8 games. how are we failing? if we are not in the top 4 by xmas when man utd (and moyes' everton) step it up it would be a worry.
to say we are failing now is just a knee jerk reaction. moyes has had 3 months and not years.

"the original point SLM made is flawed, looking at just wages spent and transfer spend. not net spend.

Ultimately, that depends on what you are trying to judge. Whatever way you look at it, there is a direct link between wages, squad cost and final league position. Only one team has ever won the premier league that wasn't one of the two most expensive in terms of those measures.
In terms of net spend, again, it depends how you look at it. If you look at Southampton, for example, they have spent 69 million net in the last two seasons (which is obviously a big reason why they are looking good this year). However at the same time, they have bought 11 players within that and realistically, they are no where near a top 4 team. In order to get to that, they will have to buy virtually a whole team again, for much greater cost.
If you look at Arsenal, they spent 42 million on Ozil and he looks to be the missing piece of the jigsaw. Southampton can't buy a player like him yet though, not until they rebuild their team at least once more, so they are always going to look worse in terms of net spend. That doesn't mean Wenger is automatically doing a better job than Pochettino though. Couple that with the ability of the top four teams to take really any youngsters they like at the age of 16 for nominal fees, then again, net spend isn't a fair indicator on that either.
It is one measure to look at, I just think people sometimes look at it far too simplistically.

we have a poor record against liverpool at anfield, we dont do well against chelsea historically and man city have beaten us comfortably in the past.
the only result that im suprised at was the west brom loss but they are a decent side. i thought getting a point at southampton yesterday day was harsh on us but happens in the PL.
All these results could have happened under fergie. this has been our toughest start to the premier league.
