Just stuns me how ignorant some of you guys are.

I spent a good few years on the terraces listening to chants of 'boring boring Arsenal' from United & Pool fans because we perfected the concept and won trophies and matches against their 'footballing sides'.

Yet somehow, it's an alien concept to Arsenal fans and something only shared by the upper echelons of Chelsea, United, and Liverpool fans. Rather ironic as none of those clubs have gotten anywhere near the level of negative tactics we used to employ to win matches.

I honestly don't know what to do when a thread like this comes along, I'm caught between wumming the ignorant or just being gobsmacked.

Vito, but nobody is knocking it. It's to do with YOUR fans who have ignored their own history as a stick to beat teams that have been using tactics that does not conform to the Arsene Wenger football ideology.

It's been a subject of much debate on here for years with United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal fans - particularly when we were dominating the CL - with the former three generally giving credit for playing in this way whereas the Arsenal fans, generally, wouldn't give them credit.

We got slaughtered for sitting back against Barca in our 1-0 win in 08 by many of your fans. Would just like to see a bit of consistency.

Darren, I get what you're saying but your fans used to sing about how boring we were!! If there's some t/it-for-tat going on it's nowhere near that level, and I'd rather have had the trophies to be honest.

Vito, yeah of course. Tt-for-tat is a different matter. The reason I brought it up is because it's been a subject of much debate, so it's not quite the same as a few songs in the stands.

For example the Anderson/Fabregas song is different to the actual debates about the two players.

If there was a big debate between the fans as to who was the better player then it's a different matter altogether.

I actually have more respect for Wenger for not being so attacking yesterday.

Accepting your team's limitations and adapting to your opponent shows better management than just going out and trying to play your own game against teams that are better than you.

It's something Fergie used to do in Europe for years and we ended up suffering for it in the latter stages of the CL. It took Fergie a while to adopt a more pragmatic and defensive way of playing in these games, particularly away in Europe.

It's early days, but perhaps it's something Wenger may finally start to incorporate into his Arsenal sides as for me it is what has been missing and why Wenger's teams have not done too well in the CL knock out rounds.

I agree with what you're saying there.

I just need to point out, it wasn't just a few songs, when we won the FA Cup in 1993, there wasn't a newspaper article about it the next day without the word "Boring" in it, seriously, I am not exaggerating. Like I say, I totally get where you're coming from, but I think you'll find those of us that experienced the GG era would raise a few eyebrows.

You have won tons of trophies and that's the bottom line.

Wenger use to be the worst at it.

I remember when we beat Arsenal 3-0 under Ancelotti at The Emirates, Carlo's tactics basically nullified any goal threat Arsenal had. Arsenal passed it about but created nothing all game and we brutally killed them off but Wenger was going on about Arsenal morally won

He did the same in the reverse fixture at Stamford Bridge when we won 2-0, but Ballack quickly put him in his place.

I hate it when people think there is one defined way of playing and anyone who does otherwise is committing some footballing sin, its arrogant beyond belief.

No the worst one is Maureen. Slated Spurs for "parking the bus" yet spent his whole career doing it against Barcelona.

Also Mancs we didn't park the bus yesterday so this article is really void.
