Is wenger scared of buying a striker

He genuinely doesn't want one.

Perhaps he feels he wants to improve on Giroud and that is a tall if not impossible order in this window.

If he can supplement the midfield with more goalscoring/ creative talent in midfield perhaps he thinks that will offset the inclusion of Bendtner or Sanogo from time to time.

Personally I think Bendtner could show some worth this season with his head back screwed on.

As for Gourcuff? Again? It will be Frey and Mexes next...... Every window.

The Draxler stuff seems to be smoking like a good 'un so there must be a little fire in that stuff. He'd be very different to a lot of our other players in midfield.

I think he is still mourning the loss of Henry. That is why he took him back on loan 2 years back. That only opened old wounds tough and he isn't willing to deal with the same thing happening with someone else. RVP was just another example of what CFs do to you and was the final nail in the coffin.

For now Wenger is voluntarily celibate and will not have any penetration up front.

and the consequences of buying a world class one?

He tried to buy Suarez you clown now shut the fack up you moaning muppet. Sick of you bashing Wenger on a constant basis.

Higuain, Suarez?

Draxler I have no problems with his as he could play out wide but again it's not an essential requirement.

Giroud is not going to hurt the big teams and it will be down to our mf to make the difference against the big teams.

Bendtner, seriously the guy has never been the answer.

As for sanogo, he has an injury record to rival diaby

Like ghost_of_cygan says, getting a striker in this window who is a genuine improvement on Giroud is a very difficult task. Even if we got a Cavani or Falcao (which we won't, of course) , if they take even 2 months to settle in that could be the title gone.

I think Wenger will try to get Draxler done this window, but if not go back in the summer, and apart from that won't do any business and try to press ahead with what we've got.

Midfield is our strongest area so I'd imagine so.

Yes he tries in the summer but at the end of the day we bought no one.

Wenger likes buying widemen who he can convert into strikers but never the all out central striker

"Wenger likes buying widemen who he can convert into strikers but never the all out central striker"

This isn't really true.

If you're judging your strikers by Henry's standards you're destined to fall short - you are unlikely to ever get a striker of that calibre again.

Bad buys and lack of investment are probably the biggest reasons for your striker situations rather than Wenger being scared to buy a striker - after all, he did try to get Suarez.

Gonzalo Higuain and Luis Suarez, such widemen

Ok if we can't get strikers in that are better than giroud, surely there are strikers better than Bendner?

I just don't understand Wenger's thought process sometimes.

We can't rely on Giroud every game, Bendtner doesn't cut it, Park and Sanogo, the less said about the better.

It was clear as day we needed a striker in the Summer but I can't understand why we left it so late. We missed a trick with Higuain IMO and putting all our eggs in one basket with Suarez was a massive risk, which didn't pay off. And we've not done anything this January either.

If we win the league with the aforementioned front 4 as our forward line for the remainder of the season, it would surely be one of the greatest achievements of all time.

We didn't even bid for higuain

If we buy a striker now we’re probably going to end up with one of 3 things

1. Blowing our wad on someone who isn’t one of the best
2. Buying someone young with potential
3. Taking a punt on a faded star

1 would be out of the question, 2 or 3 wouldn't bother me.

Fergie got Henrik Laarson on loan on loan one season for a few months and eased the workload for the others. Do not know if one of those is going spare.

Look at our strike force

Giroud
Bendtner
Sanogo

I dont want us to sign some goodish striker who would barely improve us.

We need a genuine world class forward and if Wenger cant find one in the January Window id rather we didnt buy one at all and got one in the summer.

Wenger is looking at Striker in the Suarez, Costa class and lets face it they are not going to move in January unless the Club is in big trouble.

We don't even need to buy someone, a stop-gap loan move would be fine, as long as we have option better than Nicklas.

So if he tried how the FACK IS HE SCARED OF BUYING ONE??????????

posted on 27/1/14

I want Berba, he wouldn't even need to run around much, just stand back to goal, trap it and roll it in to one of our 7000 midfield players.

posted on 27/1/14

But surely if a good striker can be the difference between winning the title and not winning the title then it's worth the risk to sign them?
