So if he tried how the FACK IS HE SCARED OF BUYING ONE??????????
===
I agree, it's ridiculous to suggest he is ''scared'' of buying someone. I just can't get my head around how we took so long with Higuain and how we failed to get any striker of note in the Summer.
I just don't get it. Since Henry left we have never really addressed the striker situation.
------
You wont be happy with any striker if you expect to see another Henry at the club. It won't happen.
Just because none of our strikers after him weren't as good as he was doesnt mean we never adressed the situation.
It's the same with AMs. They all get compared with Cesc and no matter how good they are they look poor in comparison.
Higuain is barely any better than Giroud. Vastly overrated striker
I never said we had to find a replica of Henry.
The quality of strikers we have bought since have been pretty poor
How many strikers have you actually bought since Henry? Because you had Henry you didn't need to go out and sign a superstar striker and when he left you'd already been developing the ones that replaced him.
RGK
Maybe, but he's still better than Bendtner.
Having a look at his record for Napoli, it's not as good as I thought it was but it's still decent. 14 goals in 25 appearances is still fairly good going.
Even if not him though, someone!

But surely if a good striker can be the difference between winning the title and not winning the title then it's worth the risk to sign them?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fair enough Darren, we tried in the last summer with Suarez. But in the current market who is realisticly been available?
Castor, you always seems to forgot that we were restricted moneywise the past few years and competing with the oil money. So Wenger always had to find someone who fit our 12M EUR philosophie the past few years.

Yep in an awful italian league
Higuin missed loads of Chances in the 1-1 at the weekend and his record isnt all that in Italy.
Gervinho is tearing Italy up and we all know how poor he was.
That's the thing, GT. Even if it's not an improvement on Giroud, I'm sure Arsenal could tempt a striker that is an improvement on Park and Bendtner.
Then if you do get that world class striker you covet in the summer, then said player would just be relegated to 3rd choice striker - something you'll need anyway.
Napoli got ripped off for Higuain. He's a good striker but not the top drawer striker that his price tag would suggest.
I just can't see who we will get in the Summer realistically. Any suggestions? Apart from Draxler of course (who isn't a striker...)
Boss with two amazing comments on this thread. Agree with you
Tbf, Wenger offered £22m for Gonzalo and that was probably a fair price.
If Napoli wanted to gazzump us and blow a huge amount on a decent player then that is out of his control.
He offered £40m for Suarez which IS a huge amount considering his previous transfer record and Liverpool just laughed in our faces. Again, nothing he could really do (in hindsight Suarez IS worth circa £60m but we really didn't expect him to transform so quickly).
Other than those two, we didn't chase anyone high profile and all other CFs were going for £40m+ (Cavani, Falcao, etc.)
If you want a superstar you HAVE to pay a massive amount. In that respect, United got Mata cheap (only because Chelsea wanted rid).
We will either have to spend a lot of money, or we will most likely buy in someone not so high profile who will be able to adapt and evolve in our team into a great player (like Henry himself).
I mean Adebayor was a nobody and, say what you want about his attitude, the knows where the goal is. We just need someone as good as Giroud in terms of quality but with different attributes (speed and finishing) in order to have a "complete" squad.
Look at City. They have the tricky little bulldog Aguero AND they have the target man Dzeko AND they have the battering ram Negredo. They are all different types of striker and so as a unit are versatile and difficult to defend against.
Wenger said very early on in November, when deals for Jan start, that he is wedded to Giroud. That was it. No striker to replace Giroud because it would hurt his feelings.
So if you start from that assumption. We have to assess how strong Bendtner's link to Lazio is? If it is genuine, we can get a backup striker. Someone like Vucinic. Or Wenger could go for a youngster earmarked to takeover from Giroud like Morata as his backup.
That still leaves an issue with the missing 'difference maker' in the attacking department. Pod finishes well but he is not going to win you games against Chelsea, or Man City. That only leaves Draxler as that type of player.
No striker to replace Giroud because it would hurt his feelings.
think he said something similiar to he is very happy with Giroud and what he brings to the team....
Giroud is not going to win you those games also

Cheerss GT
Still wouldnt have said no to signing Higuian though as he is in the top quality bracket. Hes just been abit meh for Napoli.
As Ollie said 22-28Mil was a fair price for Higgy, the price Napoli paid for him was simply not worth it. We would have got Suarez if we simply bid 45Mill and not peed pool ff by Offering 40Mil and a £1.

I'd like to wed myself to Giroud.
Rodrigo Moreno could be a good signing to get in the summer if Arsenal aren't prepared to pay, or able to compete, for the elite bracket strikers.
I think he has the potential to reach that level in the right environment and would suit your style of play as well.
Much is made of Morata, who is very good, but it's been Rodrigo that was keeping him out of the under 21's for the last couple of years.
moreno? isn't that the bloke who had an utterly dismal time at bolton wanderers? no thanks
